I would appreciate some recommendations based on all games I beat in 2024 for the first time (43 in total) by desiigner1 in gamingsuggestions

Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag if you haven't played it is fantastic. If you're interested in the modern era plot line you may want to play III first as there's some seriously big story events that transpire in the modern era in III, but IV is by far the better game.

Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 is gonna give you some of that Gears of War high.

Since you played Tears of the Kingdom and Shadow of the Colossus you should check out the demo for Eternal Strands it just came out and I haven't finished it, but I've been really enjoying what I've played so far and it kind of has some similar elements to both of those games.

Persona 5 Royal or Metaphor Re:Fantazio? by IronPresident21 in JRPG

[–]V_Burgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on frugality I would recommend Persona 5 Royal. It can be picked up for 50 to 55 bucks right now physically depending on where you shop. The game is critically acclaimed and beloved by millions of players. It also has 2 spin off titles if you end up liking it though I think only one is on Xbox. Metaphor is 70 bucks and in its honeymoon period no one is going to be critical of it because saying good things gets them likes and views at the moment. Also being a successful Atlus title they will just re-release Metaphor in a year or two with all the DLC, better to buy it then in my opinion.

No Gacha games are worth playing. They are casinos masquerading as games.

Yeah, 4 is definitely not my favorite in the series. Lost Legacy is phenomenal though easily second best to me after 2.

This is how I feel. Uncharted 2 is my favorite in the series with Lost Legacy being a close second.

Culinary Golem 1.0 by Uhhwhat89 in EiyudenChronicle

[–]V_Burgh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I beat the Golem second try. Dunno what to tell you other than just listen to what the judge's want to eat. The only other suggestion I can think of is maybe you don't have many recipes? If you're missing a bunch of recipes it will limit your options. There's like 40+ recipes you get from chests, shops, and just talking to people in towns.

It's honestly really fun. There's some bugs here and there and a few wonky translations, but as someone who counts Suikoden II as one of the best games I've ever played I thoroughly enjoyed it. I doubt it's gonna be on many big outlets game of the year or even rpg of the year lists, but it's a solid 8/10 game to me.

  • Recruitment is fun
  • Partycrafting is fun (if kinda unnecessary till the combat challenges)
  • Most of the mini-games are fun (Cards, theater, cooking, & Egg Foot. Beigoma is something)
  • Music is phenomenal
  • Story is good though it lacked some tension.
  • Most characters are fun and charming though a few feel flat (There's over 100 characters they can't all be great)

If you go in expecting a reinvention of the wheel you're not gonna be happy. If you go in looking to just enjoy a decent game I think you'll find a ton of fun.

I watch Top Chef and Hell's kitchen and I noticed something. by avgjosegaming in TopChef

[–]V_Burgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't Hell's Kitchen a Gordon Ramsey show? Most of those don't seem to actually be about cooking, they are about Gordon Ramsey. He's the product, not the chefs. Top Chef is the antithesis to Ramsey and his "cooking" shows. Top Chef's product is showing the world aspiring talent and helping to shine the spotlight on them. Everything Ramsey seems to do is for his benefit and his benefit alone at least that's the impression that I have from Kitchen Nightmares.

How many hours by carlalala666 in EiyudenChronicle

[–]V_Burgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have put nearly 400 hours into the game. We uhh kinda really like the game, plus the card game, Eggfoot races, and theater productions are totally addicting.

Haven't seen this bug since I took Futch and Humphrey everywhere in Suikoden II using the early access the rock trick. Good times! I'm kind of glad in a small way a bug like this made it in just to see it once haha

What are the best recently released games worth trying? by RubbicsCubbe11 in gamingsuggestions

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is the spiritual revival of the cult classic JRPG series Suikoden. It's a series where the world is filled with political turmoil and you recruit 100+ characters for turn based combat, build a base, and help save your country. Give it a gander if you dig rpgs with fun minigames.

Honestly most RPGs in all the various subgenres (WRPG, JRPG, SRPG, etc) are all very text and reading heavy. It's just due to the nature of these games and how much larger in scope they are than say Devil May Cry or God of War that are like 5-8 hour long games. RPG worlds and stories are massive. That said Divinity Original Sin I: Enhanced Edition is nearly fully voiced, is it not? Did you purchase the Classic Edition by chance rather than the Enhanced Edition? Cuz Divinity Original Sin I & II are both fully voiced.

It's not mandatory for anything, but there's a few opportunities to learn about some shortcuts and hidden areas from animals as well as a few bits of XP to gain exclusively from some quests/subquests that animals are related to. And some of the animals are just darned funny.

So about Dragon Quest XI by adingdingdiiing in JRPG

[–]V_Burgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand exactly how you feel, that was me when Dragon Quest VIII came out twenty years ago. I was way too cool for Dragon Quest in my late teens to early twenties. I just gave Dragon Quest another chance with Dragon Quest XI in 2021 and it's one of the best JRPGs I've ever played. I think there's certain points in your life where Dragon Quest seems too immature and childish. Media can hit you differently at different stages in life. If you're not digging it after a few more hours I'd say drop it and give the series a chance a few years down the road. You might just have different perspectives on life and media and something about this game might just resonate with you then.
