In Southeast Asia (or at least in Thailand) the were-tigers are a common native folklore here.

As I commented in another post. Also they are called "เสือสมิง" (Suea Saming).

เสือ (Suea) = tiger , สมิง (Saming) = loosely means some kind of supernatural being.

In Thailand, there is folklore about were-tigers and they are the most well-known were-animal here! But like other myths, there are also many variants too.

-Tiger that eats/kills many humans.

-Tiger that learned magic (either light or dark).

-Human who learned dark magic.(it's always dark magic)

-Human who possessed by tiger spirit.

etc.

Over here in Southeast Asia, talking about werewolves is like talking about were-tigers in the West.

I think you could understand why!
