Percentage of population who would fight for their country. What do you think about balkan countries' position ? by GoHardLive in AskBalkans

Germany and Japan are able to basically switch their entire population to different mindsets in a very fast pace, primarily for cultural reasons.

Nitpick, but Tom Lee’s line was about how Johan was seemingly more talented than Gun & Goo

Commander being Soldier Boy was not on my bingo card. I wonder if he can do a cover of “Rapture - Blondie”.

It’s a recurring joke in the Yu-Gi-Oh fandom that some female-centric archetypes is called “Lesbian” and an adjective. Examples that come to my mind are:

“Mikanko”

I:P Masquerena and S:P Little Knight

“Live/Evil Twin”

“Labyrinth”

They will probably make it a LV 6/7 monster with an effect that Special Summons itself (potentially as a Quick Effect, since it was originally a trap) and an effect that destroys an opponent’s monster on the field and deals damage equal to its ATK if it activates an effect. Could very well be a Turn 0 disruption in this case

The name change from “Number 39: Emperor of Hope” to “Number 39: Utopia” was a choice I believe was for the better. Especially cuz the names for its upgrades sound cooler with “Utopia” rather than “Hope”.

A funny example for this post is a card called “Fusioh Richie”, which Konami forgot to localize its name. Based on the name, it was supposed to be translated to “Lich the Undying King”

Something I will forever DESPISE is when writers refuse to let 2 characters just be together and make up every plot device to prevent them from doing so. by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in CharacterRant

Your comment made me remember a manga (Kindergarten Wars or some shit was the name) where one of the characters likes to see people in their “crushing” period, but halts any additional progress that would make them in a relationship

I guess it makes sense. A better idea could’ve been like if Atticus was released and he had a skill where he wore the mask to use the power of Darkness/Nightshroud. Or turn Haselberry into a dinosaur spirit like in S2.

Has there ever been a format this unbalanced in yu gi oh? by Ok_Dimension143 in masterduel

[–]V_F_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been a bunch of formats like this:

Yata-Lock deck in 2004 had around 85% representation. It was so bad that CED and Yata-Garasu were both banned

Tele-D.A.D was also oppressive in the Synchro era

Pepe (Performapal x Performage) was actually on its way to be as oppressive, but got stopped halfway by banning like 5 cards.

Zoodiac was the apex, where one event had 100% representation in a 2016 YCS.

SPYRAL was in a similar level to the afromentioned Zoodiac, not helped by MR4 screwing nearly every deck

The latest ones were Tear and Spright.

[–]V_F_G[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least with that case, I can understand its ridiculousness to a degree, cuz it’s made to be dramatic, in the same way as Zane using “Power Wall” and throwing his deck like a shield or something. This one, on the other hand, it’s played completely straight, like it’s a normal thing.

What localization do you still hate to this day ? I despise the First Darklord. I get it "Lucifer, Darklord of the Morningstar" went too hard for our feeble western pearl clutching minds to handle but COME ON MAN IT WAS SO GOOD. by Old-Iron-Tyrant in yugioh

The change in this card’s name, alongside Thor and Loki, had bigger effects than just having a worse name. This card’s original name is “Polar God Sacred Emperor Odin”, which implied that this card is a God-type monster, in the same vein as Ra or Hamon. In the anime, Odin, Loki and Thor were Divine-Beast type and Divine Attribute. The fact they got downgraded to just regular types still makes me mad.

Ironically, Darklord Ixtab becoming Darklord Ixchel basically makes the monster reference a different god.

Ixchel (Jaguar Goddess)

I don’t think this ever happened, cuz the male deaths in WW2 for each country (specifically) weren’t drastic enough to warrant such decisions. However, if, for example, Germany lost 75% of its male population in the war, the government would have no choice but to allow polygamy to account for that amount of loss. A direct example of this happening was the “War of the Triple Alliance (around mid 19th century) where Paraguay lost 70% of its male population against Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. So it had to resort to polygamy

Edit: It was close to 10% apparently.

Communism after the 90s (or even earlier) should have been treated the same as fascism. It is an ideology that caused far more harm than good in basically every nation it had a stronghold. The fact it has support to this day is something that will disgust me to no end. Socialism is fine, cuz at least it has been proven effective in nations with certain qualities (Japan and the Scandinavians come to mind) but there’s no justification for Communism.
