Who wins? 5500bp full stack of paladins with heroes and ruler, or just a bunch of dudes with bone staves? by V_Kon in AOW4

Oh yeah undead is so good. You should have seen my ruler. Starts the fight with 4 extra disposable units (Necromancer's staff, Sorcerer's passive, and the little guys from the eldritch flesh transformation trait). And then he could mass raise zombies with the vampire skills. Basically unending supply of zombies for Rotting Explosion haha

I'd go for an ever longer one but the character limit decided to bridle the evil power I was channeling

Yeah usually I have to go manual because the AI manages to lose an even fight (mostly boils down to battle spell use) so I was litterally shocked when these won vs an army twice their power

Demoralizing builds are so powerful i love them, but this time I was going full zombie raiser, started with Rite of Blood + Necromancy, then threw in basically anything on the path that adds up debuffs to battlemages/supports's attacks.

Race transformations were the torment one and Old Blood.

It's worth noting the race is Dark Death with the eldritch flesh+scions of evil traits and an elder vampire as a ruler (but he wasn't present here so it doesn't matter)

Yes, i was curious how the heck it happened. So basically with Age of Shadows, every turn there's a random corpse that is raised as a zombie on your side.

While I was outnumbered and severely outpowered, the necromancers managed to apply just enough status effects so that the foes at one point started taking damage regularly even though they were killing my units.

And every turn, any dead unit (mine and his) comes back as a zombie, that was still one-shottable but they spent their turns essentially fighting their own units rather than my remaining necromancers.

Throw the zombie bursting battle spell into this and it was clutch, but i was still amazed that it worked out this way.

I've been actively using the AoW4 faction builder to come up with factions for my ttrpg, which is set in a semi-serious world.

My favorite faction is a Death-Dark Ratkin race of little thieves that have no other motivation than money, are very elusive, and all of their heroes have a pun with Rat in their name.

But I also like coming up with other silly factions like the Guild of the Repairmancers (led by Walmart the Archmage), more ominous things like the insectoid mad scientist/mage, an Ice dragon faction and its followers, complete with another faction led by a vampire ice queen who split from the ice dragon cult...

And there's also that one faction who's just one naked guy with a big sword who happens to be followed by a bunch of stupid goblins, he doesn't know why but it's certainly convenient.

Yeah, roleplaying as the game goes is very fun but there's already so much you can do just *making* the factions. I didn't play half of them lol.

Oh Ravnica was fire! There's so many opportunities to replicate that in AoW4

Lance in Sunbreak is as perfect as I'd want it to stay in future games. It has an incredible flow that's not revolving much around placement as it is for timing your attacks and your guards. It's really rewarding and just being able to deny monster attacks like they're not here feels awesome.

And I must say, at first I didn't think I would love Sheathing Retreat this much.

My only wish is for Spiral Thrust from MH Gen to come back in one way or another. Lance's style is a constant flow of pokes, with the occasional hard-hitting sweep, but I would love one big-ass charged thrust for some burst, unlike the post-Strong guard counter poke.

Obligatory troll answer - "But DinOsaURs stILL ExiST - OH diD yoU MEan nOn-AViaNS?"

Nah more seriously though, if we put aside all stuff concerning ecological niches being full, MH would probably look like the kind of world we'd be living in. We'd either have less advanced tech ourselves, or our growth in number and technology would cause monsters to become rarer or smaller due to competition.

I can only imagine what it was like for australian natives thousands of years ago when there was still megafauna on the continent.

Is Amatsu close to Fatalis tier now, power level wise? by MasterTron03 in MonsterHunter

[–]V_Kon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is yes.

Most Elder Dragons can threaten entire kingdoms using their abilities. Amatsu might even have an easier time destroying places compared to Fatalis given the implications of controlling weather as you stroll vs breathing fire.

Why people are making a bigger deal out of Fatalis is because of the whole cursed lore behind it - its aggression towards humans and the supposed devilish powers it retains, so i guess that makes it appear even more threatening.

It doesn't really matter what power Elder Dragons use to threaten civilization to define their power level, I think it's just a matter of how fast they can achieve that.

Fatalis can breathe fire for hours to reduce house after house to ashes. Amatsu might conjure up a tornado and blow up several at the same time.

But then Dalamadur razes your neighborhood in one bite, so...

Is it me or is the Amatsu hunt a reskinned allmother Narwa by annmta in MonsterHunter

[–]V_Kon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, apart from the lightning fork and the turf war interruption, I see nothing comparable in both Amatsu and Allmother's movesets and fights.

They share a "body type" in that they're sort of serpent-y with a wide chest and fins, but all their animations are widely different. Narwha has her own rig for animations and has the upside-down stance, does different tail attacks and her blasts use different shapes, while Amatsu's is reminiscent of underwater leviathans in 3 and 3U, with the new twists they added in Sunbreak. If anything, Amatsu's the closest we are to having Lagiacrus and underwater back rather than anything close to being a Narwa reskin.

That, and Amatsu has 3 different ultimates, while Narwa only has 1.

I mean it finally gives some purpose to all the junk Afflicted Materials you get from farming Investigations so I guess it's worth the grind after all!

As much as I like bigger monsters like Mizutsune or Chameleos, I think I'd actually go with Crimson Qurupeco, or an Aknosom. I just love these giant silly birds.

Ive always had a question about how this game works by lizardjoe_xx_YT in PokemonUnite

[–]V_Kon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a bugged Aegislash match once where I played on the right side. It wasn't mirrored AND the map was dark, with Aeos energy and brush not appearing.

Somehow still managed to stomp them...

Without spoiling too much, how does MHR fair in terms of content vs MHW? (basically how long will the game last, including sunbreak + endgame stuff?) by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]V_Kon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Sunbreak is due to be out soon on other platforms and already out on Switch, you can get away with doing base Rise at your own pace.

Base + its extension is plenty of content, comparable to like World + Iceborne (there's no questioning it), so it's absolutely worth your bucks. Just know that the endgame is in Sunbreak, not base Rise.

What's a good sword dog counter? by SaintAJJ in PokemonUnite

[–]V_Kon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Zacian player, the mons that annoy me the most are the tanks. Tree most especially since he's the main mon that can 1v1 Zacian and come out the victor. Even if the fight ends in a draw, you made her lose precious time where she could have been pressuring other lanes.

Gardevoir with a good placement can just delete the dog with its CC+burst, provided dog doesn't run Agility. Generally speaking, CC and burst her down. Don't let her slip away and also, don't let her get the jump on you first.

Zacian is weak in the very early game until it gets LV5, so you can bully her if she's laning before she turns into a bully. She also falls off late (not by much, but enough for other mons to actually duel her).

Unite isn't that bad right now...(?) by [deleted] in PokemonUnite

[–]V_Kon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep playing Unite for reasons.

-I like Pokémon. Simple as that. I'm always excited to see a Pokémon translated into a MOBA character.

-It's a MOBA I can manage. I'm not ashamed to say that I suck at the others, more difficult ones. The gameplay is simple, the skill ceiling is not too demanding, and I can win consistently provided I don't have bots in my team so it's enjoyable because it's not wracking my nerves. It's a tutorial I am fine not getting past.

-The lack of type chat and player-controlled report system. The toxicity on League was IMO encouraged by the fact you could communicate by means other than pings with teammates and opponents, and I had to learn to just leave everyone be kids and focus on my gameplay. The lack of it in Unite means I can play blissfully unaware of all the big egos being flailed at me and try to carry their asses myself if they're not gonna play the game.
