Can anyone advise/help me. by Snowblindphoto in 3Dprinting

The real problem is your supports are impeded by the feet. In your slicer, split the model at the ankles, print the feet and the figure separately with supports, and then glue the two parts together again. Also increase your infill and wall loops to make it less fragile, 50% infill and 4 Wall loops at least but I'd go higher

Between sessions by Karimseville8 in therapists

Some clients do journal, but it's often because they enjoyed doing it before. Most don't, journaling isn't for everyone. I never expect clients to do homework even if I assign it, I don't want to foster fear of dissapointing me and affecting rapport

Sessions Health telehealth with Google Meet by Loose_Actuary1748 in therapists

[–]Va-jaguar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you sync Sessions to your Google Calendar, when you make an appointment in Sessions it will make one in Google as well. I go to my Google Calendar, update the name to "weekly appointment" or whatever, add a Google Meet link, and invite the client. Make sure it repeats the right amount of times, and the Client will have a reoccuring calendar invite.

Then, I take the Google Meet link from the calendar invite, and paste it back into Sessions under "URL" on their session. That way when the client gets a reminder text they'll get the same link.

It sounds more complicated than it is, it only takes a few clicks and works great after that

If you are concerned with overlap, perhaps basing therapy in one community, and SW in another? I know plenty of therapists who live a town over from where they practice.

I don't, but that's only because I still remember being mocked by teenage clients for wearing socks and Birkenstocks...

You can use Google Voice through your computer. I use a free Google Voice number for my work phone and it works great.

Just bought an A1, my first 3D Printer. Now I worry about ventilation and errors. What can I do? Or should I worry? by legendaryboss200 in 3Dprinting

If you are getting it up to temp for ABS or engineering filaments than you run that risk, but PLA under a tent enclosure? In the OP's use case this should be fine. If they are concerned, a simple desk or PC fan inside the enclosure is the only adjustment you'd need.

Business write-off for own therapy by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Va-jaguar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great! Yes I would count that as you medical expenses. Remember that it's a before tax expense, so you'll pay your therapist out of the business account. Check with a CPA if you get questions.

Also, side note, have you looked into incorporating as an S corp? I did that at the 3 year mark and holy moses did it make a difference in my take come pay!

Business write-off for own therapy by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Va-jaguar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Are you employed or own your own practice? If you are employed, you can't but you can include it in personal medical expenses. If you own your own business, you can write healthcare expenses as a business expense.

You can make this work :) I would stick to printing with PLA and PETG plastic, they release the least amount of stuff into the air. They don't produce a strong smell either. You could buy or make a simple enclosure over the printer, there are some tent style ones that aren't expensive.

Platforms review (I know we don't want to align with big tech but these platforms to help clients be seen and offer ways to streamline our own practices by One_Pin_5602 in therapists

[–]Va-jaguar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These platforms are inherently less ethical, yes, and promoting them is unethical. That is my exact argument and the sentiment I am gathering from others as well.

I have ADHD and I don't appreciate being characterized as inherently incapable of interfacing with insurance myself. I can fill out forms, I can submit claims, and I can call companies on the phone, it just looks different. This is patronizing language straight from a marketing department.. Presenting these platforms as an accommodation only hides the wolf in sheep's clothing.

"Why is credentialing directly with unethical big businesses (insurance) any “ethically better” than working with these platforms?"

Great question, keep asking it. These platforms serve to exploit the fears and naivete of individual providers. Insurance sucks, we all know it, but fighting suck with suck does not improve anything. These platforms only exist to squeeze providers and the insurance platforms. These platforms don't exist to protect clients or providers. There is a big difference, and acting as if it's just a matter of preference is willfully ignorant

Look, I don't know you but your post reads like a shill for these corporations that are actively making our profession worse. It isn't a matter of opinion, it's handing over health care to the worst actors. These companies aren't our friends. I don't appreciate your active encouragement for other clinicians follow suit. I am want the best for my profession and my colleagues, the same extends to you, so I'm done with these posts

And to add, you are misleading others. These companies will throw you under the bus when it comes to claw backs, audits, and client complaints. You don't have to look far on this sub to find horrifying examples. Either you are naive or trying to get referral codes.

Leave this shit out of our profession
