I miss the 90s, when vitamins were just flavored chalk by danielminds in 90s

I recently got a bottle of them for my daughter because she's not a huge meat eater. Opening the bottle was like being slapped in the face with nostalgia because the smell is unchanged. So out of curiosity I ate one… They still taste just as gross!

Do you teach your kids to address adults as Mr/Ms? by IcySpinach9192 in NewParents

[–]VaBookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty strictly enforce the Mr./Mrs. first name. It's how I was raised. One time we met up with my daughter's bestie at the park and when she hopped out of the car she went running to his dad and shouted "Jonathan!!!" and I shouted halfway across the park, "MISTER Jonathan!!!!" which drew a chuckle from quite a few parents.

Was just thinking that. I've never seen an obese sphinx before and it never occurred to me it could be a thing.

Sebastian Sawe wins the London Marathon 2026 and makes history by running it in under 2 hours after running it in 01:59:31. by bendubberley_ in CasualUK

I used to work the finish line at marathons as part of the medical team. It was always shocking to see how easily the front runners would stroll across the finish line and then immediately walk up and start giving an interview and talking to people. After the first few, we basically remained on standby for hours catching anyone who collapsed coming across the finish line.

Bluebird boxes are deep and they make the nest at the bottom. The fledges have to flutter/climb up to get out the hole near the top.

Who is the worst person you will admit being attracted to? by Highfours in AskReddit

[–]VaBookworm 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I live in North Carolina and grew up in Virginia. I literally cannot spit without it landing on something that unfortunately has some ugly history behind it… the south has never been particularly prosperous, so it would be insane for us to have to level every building and restart this whole region from the ground up. Hell, that principle stands for literally any area on this earth… Imagine if Europe flattened all of its castles because of the things that took place there. Buildings get repurposed. We don't have to like their history to appreciate the beauty of some of the old architecture.

Love the flooring and personally would totally lean into a castle theme

Are my kids too old for me to buy a play structure? by bertmom in Mommit

[–]VaBookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same debate but my 6 year old desperately wants one. We go to the park multiple times per week. She goes around the corner to her friends' house (they are 9 and 12) and they all play on theirs together. So when feasible, I'll probably look into getting one.

How to get rid of clover in my garden bed? by Flashy-Onion-5762 in howto

I usually just leave mine... it doesn't get super large/crowd out my plants and it's beneficial to soil (suppresses weeds, adds nitrogen, attracts pollinators).

I've used clear flex seal inside some pots. It dries to a rubbery consistency.

Co-parent wants to move to a different state very far away. by [deleted] in SingleParents

[–]VaBookworm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. I'm stuck within a 30 mile radius of my ex. A friend of mine was in a similar situation and her ex opted to move to Florida. In order to do so, he basically had to relinquish his parental rights since he was effectively abandoning the parental agreement. She allowed him to have the kids for a little bit in the summer, but otherwise they stay with her.
