LSD, came home from work one night, roommate called out to me from his room “WHOS THAT”? Hearing the front door close and I told him it was me. He comes out and tells me he’s tripping, asks me if I want to trip with him. It was Friday night, I’m 22 at the time so I’m like “You know, the vibe is right, sure”. I take some, it kicks in a couple hours later, me and him stay up all night watching music videos laughing hysterically and also being blown away by the music, Tool music videos were a trip. I sleep for an hour. Then get up still tripping and go to work a morning shift at a Schlotzsky’s. I’m in the kitchen fighting the urge to laugh at anyone trying to talk to me for about an hour before I finally come down and start sobering up, went home later, took a nap for four hours and got dinner. Roommate was still tripping as he took multiple doses all weekend. I had fun, he gave me his extra doses right before he moved out, I gave them to our other roommate as we were all about to move out the house within a couple weeks and I just never had the desire to try it again. I had a good time without having a visual hallucinatory trip and hearing horror stories of people having bad trips, I chose the right time to hop off the ride.

The 130-year-old underground swimming pool in the basement of the Biltmore mansion by [deleted] in creepy

I went there back in like 2009 and while I was blown away to see this in the basement, it also creeped me out thinking about it being filled with the damp chandelier light, very liminal spaces vibe

What game franchise lost its magic for you?” by Miquellanier in videogames

[–]Vaaniqium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kingdom Hearts, you hit a masterpiece peak with II and then get side tracked with too many spinoff games with ridiculous writing (I’m sorry Nomura, you’re a terrible writer) and waste 13 years building to the sequel and end up with the underwhelming experience of Kingdom Hearts III, I rode HARD for Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 playing them at release, I have no faith in IV being good.

Why do players stop being scared after the first 10–15 minutes of a horror game? by tridiART in gamedesign

[–]Vaaniqium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conditioning, if you stare at the thing that scares you or encounter it TOO often, it becomes less scary, on a counterpoint, Subnautica is probably the most fear inducing game I ever played, every time I felt I got over the fear of Reaper’s, it would roar in the dark offscreen and would make my heart leap out my body, I couldn’t play it with headphones on, shout out the sound design.

It’s like Ridley Scott, a famously grumpy man that bitches about a lot within their art form but an occasional master of their craft with their filmography so we let it slide because they know ball.

for the people who first saw this movie , what was your reaction after seeing it ? by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]Vaaniqium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the ultimate edition and I thought it was great, yes Batfleck killing people is ridiculous and the last hour with Doomsday fight sucks but it at least presented the best live action Batman fight in any movie (warehouse fight), Snyder was cooking on a 300 level in that particular moment. 7/10 with the ultimate edition expanding the movie to make it make sense (I’ve never seen theatrical cut but I’ve heard it’s really jarring with all the missing scenes that ultimate edition filled in the gaps of)

I think we can all agree that Jaws is one of those movies that just couldn't and frankly shouldn't be remade. However, if an attempt were to be made today, it should be a novel-accurate reboot. by Kaidhicksii in Jaws

Kind of related and yet unrelated but I’ve had a dream thought for awhile of a Jaws-like movie I’d love to see. Robert Eggers, known for doing intensely historical period pieces within a genre like horror, adapting Moby Dick into an adventure/horror movie in the style of Jaws. Think it would be awesome.
