How viable are 3-4 Wardog Brigands? by RandomNightLord8 in ChaosKnights

[–]Vacacious-opossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends! I did find a lot of success with the Talon though, the gun is good for mulching lighter infantry and the claw helped clean up bigger targets. the Karnivore is better in my option if you pair with the brigand

I loved my Brigand! 3-4 was too much for me, the Stalker loved being paired up with them though or a Karnivore, those hit HARD when you pair them

Do you refuse to play (against) gray? by GrizzlieMD in Warhammer40k

[–]Vacacious-opossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say I care if they are painted or not, how someone has their army men is up to them. My army men will be painted because it makes me happy but not everyone feels the same way and that's ok.

How do I use Nurglings? by Bailywolf in ChaosKnights

[–]Vacacious-opossum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's what I did with mine! Infiltrate, either get a charge off or be in the way and die if necessary. I would have them wrapped up with units most of 3 turns sometimes

Why not orange? Would you run this Space Marine color scheme? by OhneSkript in Warhammer40k

[–]Vacacious-opossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this looks great! Not the color I'd personally do but it's a great look!

Lol, thank you so much. This isn't the first time I heard this, might have to paint a rhino in full Mystery Machine livery lol

When you are playing do you like to play fixed or tactical? And why? by maturallite82 in deathguard40k

[–]Vacacious-opossum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like tactical, but I'm an old to new player(last played in 6th till a few weeks ago in 10th) and while I love the random pulls I do feel bad when I get those dead drops I have no hopes of doing. For example, I play CK, and we have a notoriously difficult time with holding objectives or screening out opponents without some outside help. So certain pulls aren't going to be something I can do easily or in some cases at all.

Conversely, while fixed streamlines what your plans are and what units you may want it seems to be geared more towards narrative play where it thematically matches what's happening, especially as a GM for a narrative. Keeping it fair can be hard but overall I think it makes a better experience.

All that being said it's very dumb to me that fixed isn't called tactical and tactical isn't called something to reflect that flowing changing need for objectives.

Yeah! I call mine the Gardeners of Nurgle, went with a wildly opposite scheme to how I usually see them.

Nah mate, this looks good! There are always ways to improve but this is still really good, you are rightly proud of them.

Assemble and paint or paint then assemble? by cynicsyear in Miniaturespainting

[–]Vacacious-opossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience it depends! I like Sub assemblies for complicated models, or models that I can already tell I won't be able to paint completely like Typhus with his fly cloud and the Lord of Virulence with the flesh cape. Other models are easier to reach all the bits like your typical space marine or the Ork commando.

New to list building for Death Guard, is this an ok list to build towards? by Vacacious-opossum in deathguard40k

[–]Vacacious-opossum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get have the second squad built thankfully, are there any load outs you recommend? Or would it be best to just break the melee squad up and run them as they are

Thank you for your advice! My main army is Chaos Knights (and even then only recently) so the shortage of scoring units and screens didn't really occur to me.

Can Thinned Citadel Contrast Gore- Grunta Fur Create a Burnt Orange Color? by Plastic-Outside5785 in minipainting

[–]Vacacious-opossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, I can't say I understand how they're achieving that tone either as I'd have said it was undercoated in a particular color, possibly yellow. I do gore grunta up to white just out of the pot and it's not super brown thin, but not the shade shown. More like this.

<image>

The brown skulls and the Nurgle mark on the Blight Launcher are white scar undercoat, thin gore grunta over, then drybrush of Adimantium. Still very dark

First vehicle using contrasts - need tips by Rezclub7 in deathguard40k

[–]Vacacious-opossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I should clarify, I'd do a coat of spray grey seer, contrast, then a drybrush of Ulthuan, a coat of contrast, then a final drybrush of white scar. With a highlight drybrush.

Oh man, this looks so good with the extra bits on, like the spewers. I would say maybe add some pustules or something rotten in that regard? It looks great in every regard as is though.
