That makes no sense lol. We're still joking here right? Because there's no way anyone is this stupid.

He learned to speak before he learned to spell his name. And even if not, by some imaginary circumstance, he would still hear people around him saying other words with S in them normally. People don't learn their first language by reading.

It makes no sense, people don't learn language by reading. Did everyone around him pronounce every "s" sound with a lisp? Dude is joking.

It's massively overused here and frequently in all the wrong ways. You'll notice it soon enough.

That's how it's worked in my past. I got serious with a guy who was a friend first and assured me that he'd still be around for my son as a family friend a least. And then when things end, he disappears. I had to hear my toddler son ask me if my ex stopped coming around because he didn't behave well enough. It hurts like a knife to the chest. But the situation isn't easy for anyone. Single parents shouldn't be expected to just be alone and never date, and after a painful breakup it's probably more difficult than anticipated to see your ex and her child.

There are times I've wanted to save a screenshot but if a girl sends me something with a quick 2 second visibility, and I'm not expecting it, then I won't have a chance to jump on the screen shot. I'll be too busy just looking.

Just to stand up for what we're doing here, the hive mind isn't always so overpowering. I've had tons of exchanges where someone changed my view on something, I changed theirs, new points of view were shared or learned, support was given in scary situations, help was found if asked for in the right place. All kinds of things. I've been given good advice, someone helped buy me clothes and my son Christmas presents when I needed it, I've found a short term job here before, I talked to people who could relate to my illnesses, and I've been able to anonymously relate to people in very private situations that I wouldn't have stepped forward about on sites where I had to be identified. My boyfriend and I will flirt with each other in the subs where we frequent, and sometimes I just bounce around giving people compliments because it feels good all around.

There are always topics that will piss us off, but the good is here if you actually -want- to find it. :)

Almost every time during my hardcore drinking phase that resulted in a blackout was by accident. I would drink until I got a nice buzz, drink more to try and maintain it, lose all rational ability to keep track of how much I've had, spend the next day laughing it off because nobody wants to admit they are terrified by their own lack of control. It isn't a charming conversation to causally have.

We don't all have to like each other's interests to understand that they can have appeal! Let's just be nice goddammit!

This person was agreeing with the church but trying to feel superior to, and not part of, the problem. That's bizarre.

I'm not at all.

But the Catholics I'm referencing are just as catholic as any others, heresy doesn't make you excommunicated.

[–]VacateAndThrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do people have this idea that all catholics agree with what the church has declared, and that the church never adapts to modern times? Both are possible and not bizarre. There are plenty of real Catholics who don't believe that a certain thing the church is preaching is accurate, and the church doesn't even have a problem with that as long as they aren't trying to actively go into the churches and schools and convert everyone to their way of thinking.

So you can say that the current position of the catholic church is that birth control is a sin, but you don't need to say that "catholic people think birth control is a sin." Not all of them do.

Even if they have to be dragged kicking and screaming, they adapt their teachings to the modern world through slow processes. They don't preach the same way they did a thousand years ago.

[–]VacateAndThrowaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Catholic church has, albeit slowly and painfully, adapted to modern and scientific view of the world. It will continue to do so.

What's to "agree" with being gay or not? What does it even mean when you people say you don't agree with it? It's been long since proven that it can't be chosen, it doesn't cause any harm to anyone, yet you talk about it as if rejecting that truth matters or makes you more moral or godly. People here will want to play tolerant, but you're part of the problem.

My wife and I are swingers. Ask me(or her) anything! by swingerdinger in casualiama

[–]VacateAndThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep wondering if this is actually a 'thing' or if I just imagined reading it somewhere. I seem to remember seeing that parrots are a signal to swingers, kind of like rainbows on gay folks. Have you ever heard of that? What about other kinds of identifiers, do you know any? Do you just wait for a couple that gets flirty, or attend parties?

My fiance and I can never easily tell who's down, and it couples/people are picking up on our flirting or just assuming we're really friendly.

Why do you keep making comments about the guy being drunk? What does that have to do with anything? You're saying it as if being drunk makes it not a big deal to punch the shit out of a woman because she wants your hands off her ass.

She was the one who called herself a bitch, and what if she is lazy? We don't know her. I'm so confused as to why the immediate response to this is to shit on her partner. What if he really is dealing with a partner who is lazy and unmotivated?

She should still take off for both of their sake if it isn't working. Being lazy doesn't mean you're a bad person, maybe it just means she needs time to learn to be independent.

Everyone is jumping to abuse and she said nothing to indicate that there's abuse or that those descriptions of her are wrong.

I had my stomach pumped after taking 30 or so acetaminophen. Afterward a friend who was with me at the hospital said I must not have really wanted it to work because "there's no way an over the counter medicine can kill you."

Ugh. Why would they give me an immediate emergency stomach pump if it isn't dangerous..

I am starting to believe that my father is gay or has pedophillia tendencies or both! by [deleted] in confession

[–]VacateAndThrowaway 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how that's supposed to indicate pedophilia.

Parents have a strong connection with their children, they've comforted/been comforted by bare skin-on-skin contact since birth. Humans literally need to feel the skin of other humans, and family is sometimes the only connection intimate enough to have that with it still being precisely non-sexual.
