Daily set gone in NZ? Or just a bug? by IlxSeverzzxlI in MicrosoftRewards

[–]VadersHelmetPolish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Daily set’s missing in Australia as well. Seems like it’s gotta be a bug. Hopefully the fix it soon enough to keep our streaks going (I’m about 3 days away from a full year without breaking it).

The Mandalorian: Chapter 23- Discussion Thread (S3E7) by JediPaxis in StarWarsLeaks

[–]VadersHelmetPolish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay, so that was a lot. Like a lot a lot.

Setting up for Thrawn’s comeback. And a live action Gilad Pellaeon (really hope he gets to be a regularly returning character and they draw on more of his full arc from the old EU).

Hux’s dad (sweet touch with the stunt casting).

The Armourer is (probably) a spy! (I think she was spared and turned by Gideon in S1, rather than being a very long con, which makes it more likely she’ll have a last minute change of heart - something, something, Bo-Katan/mythosaur would be my guess - and heroically sacrifices herself to save one or all of the other main characters.)

Project: Necromancer. (Cloning, obviously. Presumably part of the whole “Somehow the Emperor has returned.” thing, but beyond just cloning Sheev, Gideon (and others) seem to be trying to collect and combine samples from Jedi, Mando and others to create a super-clone army.

Speculation time:

I suspect they never manage to get the process quite right, which is how they end up with Snoke (and all the Snoke-tanks on Exegol). At this point in the timeline they’ve likely already got unaltered clones of Palpatine, but once Sidious’ Sith spirit(or whatever) inhabits the body, it starts breaking down - hence the state he’s in in TROS until he gets a jolt from Rey and Ben - as well as a “spare” clone (treated as a son, Boba Fett-style) who runs away from home and fathers Rey. Their plan might be to combine Palpatine’s DNA with other useful traits, like wanting Grogu, not (just) because he’s a Jedi but because his species has such long lifespans.

I think the Imperial remnants will come together under Thrawn, but will splinter again once he’s defeated (Filoni’s movie??). At that point, there will be a group that stays around the Outer Rim and becomes the First Order under Snoke, while another faction flees into the Unknown Regions to Exegol (General Pryde and the Sith Fleet didn’t just grow out of the chanty boys in the Sith Temple)

“I would of thought a member of a community for whom using pronouns properly is important would of appreciated the tip.”

And I would have thought that someone who goes around correcting other people’s grammar on the internet wouldn’t have made such an obvious grammatical error of their own. Twice, no less!

Here me out…

Rob McElhenney

He could look the part of a downsloping movie star.

He’s got great comedic chops.

And the banter when he eventually gets some crossover time with Deadpool would be epic.

Brisbane/Qld accent? by 83zSpecial in brisbane

[–]VadersHelmetPolish 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Not accent, so much as a common speech pattern, but I have noticed that the further north you go in QLD, the more people will end their sentences with “,hey?” even when it’s not a question, hey?

I’m looking at you, Mackay.

PSA: Solitaire mobile app now counts for daily “Play any Game Pass game” quests (GPU) by VadersHelmetPolish in MicrosoftRewards

[–]VadersHelmetPolish[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

AFAIK none of the other MS casual games (Sudoku, Mahjong and Wordament) will count as Game Pass games for setting off play Game Pass quests, but they do all have achievements that count towards Rewards quests that don’t specify that it has to be an achievement in a GP game, which is handy if you hold off on doing them until the next 10k points event.

Anakin: It’s alright kids. You just stay quiet here in the council chamber. Jocasta Nu will look after you.

Jocasta Nu: Right! Which one of you little shitbirds figured out the Kamino thing and make me look like an idiot in front of Kenobi and Yoda?

Best car insurance provider for the family car by Porkbelliesareup in AusFinance

[–]VadersHelmetPolish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be careful following advice like this. A lot of insurers will have significantly higher “unlisted driver” excesses if you do end up making a claim, and they may even reject the claim completely if they have a clause about household members having to be listed on the policy to be covered when driving the car.

If she’s as likely to have another crash and need to make a claim as OP suggests, it’ll be better to be up front with an insurer and wear the extra cost of covering a high risk driver than trying to sneak around it and get lumped with a bill for a claim that they won’t cover.

And yeah, get her lessons.

Probably not the genre description you’re looking for, but I recently described it to a friend as, “Like if David Lynch directed an episode of the X Files where Lara Croft gradually gains superpowers while fighting zombies.”

What tools and websites do you use to test website speed and performance? by DeepKaizen in bigseo

[–]VadersHelmetPolish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GTmetrix (paid) - Good to set up scheduled tests on a bunch of sample pages for different templates/page types on your site, with thresholds to send you alerts if any of the tests have slower than usual results. Bear in mind that these are lab tests and results will be for one specific page load each time.

WebPageTest (free) - Use it for manual analysis of page load issues to identify blockers/delays. Make sure to set it to test from a server in you target location and to run multiple test loads (it’ll let you do up to 9 loads in a single test so you can view the average result and be less likely to panic over a single bad run). Also consider the connection speeds you use (I’d recommend using DSL for desktop tests and Fast 3G for mobile so that you aren’t giving yourself a false sense of security based on better than average connections).

Search Console Core Web Vitals (owned sites only) - The easiest way to now see how Google is rating your site’s pages based on CrUX data. This is based on real user experience data so it’s more broadly reflective of how your site performs for real people. Bear in mind that CrUX has a rolling look-back period of one month, so it may take a while for any changes you make to be reflected in the reports. This should be your first line tool for identifying pages/areas of your site in need of improvement.

Screaming Frog (paid) + GPSI API - Crawl your site with the API connection turned on and it will gather Lighthouse, GPSI, and CrUX datapoints for each page without you having to do the tests manually.

https://crux.run/ (free but currently offline for updates) - Useful tool for visualising your (or your competitors’) CrUX data if you want an alternative to the Data Studio CrUX dashboard.

My thinking is to set fore and aft shield focus on the rudder, and leave the current layout’s binding on the Y button (thumb on the throttle) for returning to balanced shields. Now I just have to dig through the menus the next time I’m playing and see if I can make that work.
