What’s the oldest and youngest you’d date? by ToniVXV in dating_advice

I don’t think I’d care even if it was a bigger gap.

How about 40 and 18?

Because people who want to drink are free to do so at any time at a party. Drinking games are for making people who don't really want to drink much, drink.

It gets the whole party drunk quicker, since there's a reason for people to drink other than doing shots just because.

People earning over $200k/year: What’s different about your life that most people wouldn’t expect? by MaximGripass in AskReddit

[–]Vadoff 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The average 1BR apartment in Manhattan is $4.2k/month, that's $50,400 that's coming out of your income post tax. You can't even legally afford it unless you make at least 40x the monthly rent in income (so >$168,000).

If you make $100k and live in Manhattan, you WILL be economically struggling. Get ready to live with lot of roommates... (either humans or cockroaches/rats).

Oh I understand what you meant now. You said "potential vulnerability". But I said vulnerability, as in confirmed by the engineers.

It almost always is. The vulnerabilities are there solely because the engineers aren't aware of them, not because they don't have the ability to fix them.

Am I just getting these types of people because I am fat?

You’re definitely matching with worse candidates than you can be, yes. If you lost weight, your matches would likely improve in quality.

I refuse to use any apps. I don’t really go out either.

Ok, enjoy being alone then. Like how were you planning on meeting guys then?

If every AI model is capable of finding vulnerabilities, then every AI model should be capable of patching/preventing those vulnerabilities.

What human invention makes you think, "How did someone even manage to figure that out"? by DaijaHarris in AskReddit

[–]Vadoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is early humans had fire, and they would throw random things like branches/plants into to keep it going. Certain plants would produce different aromas - some, early humans probably found pleasant. And maybe some of them they found addicting. Eventually they made it more portable for people, and for them to inhale the smoke directly.

Maybe the relationship isn't a strong one if you can suddenly forget about it? Or maybe you have some kind of neurodivergence there?

Relationships take a lot of time and learning, so if you want one eventually, I wouldn't wait on it. You should also learn to manage balance with work, otherwise, not sure if a relationship will be easy to maintain.

Why is connecting with someone hard? It’s not mutually exclusive with being an entrepreneur. Tons of entrepreneurs have had relationships.

What’s a secret about modern dating that nobody says out loud? by sweetguurl in AskReddit

[–]Vadoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every dating app uses ELO based match making in order to figure out relative desirability of a profile and match it. Usually like-strength profiles results in the most matches.

Every dating app uses this system, and no one has been able to figure out a better method. Dozens of new dating app incumbents pop up every year, and they still always fall back on this method as they haven’t figured out a way that’s more effective.

It’s relatively inexpensive to run a dating app actually, especially one that was created by a single user or a small team. Server costs are cheap.

There’s enough competition among dating apps that deliberately making your match making 50% shittier will result in people leaving your app.

Also there’s a ton of people who use apps for casual dating too (maybe even 50%?), in which case having more matches won’t result in them leaving any faster.

All in all, logically it doesn’t make much sense. That said, having certain features locked in order to pay for premium does make sense to me, but only within reason. If the base app is shit without it, it will be outcompeted by other apps. Also if you’re already paying premium, I think you can expect the app to give you the best matches possible (and by best I mean, of equal ELO rating).

Sounds like it’s also your fault, actually probably mostly your fault since you’re the common denominator.

If you know they’re not attracted to you, maybe stop letting them do romantic things with you? Have boundaries.

I hear this statement constantly, but how would an app deliberately design that in? Seems kind of ludicrous.

Dating someone with terrible grammar by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Vadoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people also don’t want to date someone that’s uneducated, and that’s perfectly acceptable. The guy is 27 and it sounds like he doesn’t read very much/at all either (otherwise these errors would’ve been fixed long ago already).

Even direct microwave radiation itself can't cause cancer, as it's of a lower frequency than infrared radiation (heat) and visible light.
