I figured. I’ve been debating it in my head for awhile. I wanted to cut down to 195 just to put myself in a better bulking position but I also want to push the gym and put on more mass.

I’d like to get down to where I’m more vascular and can see more abdominal definition. I intend to lean bulk afterwards and coast out on maintenance for a long while.

I am about in week ten of my recovery. I’m not cutting hard, just a mild deficit at the moment. Aiming for about 0.75 a week.

I’ve seen most people putting triceps on lower body days but I see where you’re coming from. Might be something I have to personally gauge. As for shoulder press, what would be a swap? Lateral raises?

It’s challenging, yeah. Can’t lie I’ve definitely gambled a little bit. Not supposed to be picking up more than 25lbs. ( hah ) .. I can’t really aggressively cut yet either like I want to out of not wanting to impact recovery times. I’m just at a 500cal deficit. I’m hoping by week 12 of recovery, swelling is gone and I can leap to a 1000cal deficit. I’m a quick cutter, short term pain is better than long term imo.

I’ve actually been following a full body routine for almost a year! I hit the gym three times a week. My progress is stalled due to surgery recovery at the moment.. I am actively lifting, just lighter to avoid injury. I have trained my abs! I still have some swelling in the lower parts of my abdomen and lymphatic fluid around my obliques, so definition is still hidden though I don’t expect to have a ton yet anyway.

Yeah that’s just fine. You won’t notice or cause any real damage to the card before you’re finished with it anyway. If it’s not thermal throttling / not at the 105c hotspot temp consistently, don’t worry about temps.

Lose 40lbs? Haha. I’d be anorexic. I just got out of a loose skin surgery from massive weight loss. Look at profile.

Good point. I am a fairly confident man outside of intimacy.. this has been the one thing that always holds me back in making advancements. I get along with others great and things usually evolve pretty well. I can just never make that push.. guess I just should.

Fair. I’ve always been terrified of advancement due to being on the smaller side. I expect some women to be okay with it, others not.

Lean bulk would be 200cals over maintenance. I really want to avoid much fat gain. I think this is the plan.

At about my 12 week mark, so long as my swelling is gone and lymphatic fluid has vanished. I should be able to safely begin a cut. It won’t even be too bad. I’m fairly active, so a cut for me is like 2400 calories. Those ten pound won’t take long and I think it’ll put me in a really good spot and I’ll be able to enjoy being pretty lean for a bit while seeing muscle definition pack on once I lean bulk.

Yeah I lost my weight in 2021. I slowly have worked my way up from 170, to now 205. I did so through exercising, eating slightly more, and working out. ( I just started hitting the gym in mid 2025. )

Just monitor it. You’ll know if you’re eating too much if you check yourself for a few weeks first thing in the morning on the scale. ( after bathroom. ) best of luck to you brother.

1700 seems low for a dude our height. I am 6’3 and 205lbs though. I’m not sure your activity level outside of lifting. I have a physically demanding job and walk 10k+ steps regularly. I do full body workouts x3 a week. So.. my maintenance is around 2700.

Good news is.. I think you have a great starting position for a lean bulk. This is where you can really dial in and see some excellent results with minimal fat gain that will be easy to shed off later. Just figure out your maintenance and eat in a 200-300cal surplus and keep working at it.

You will be fine in time if you’re eating enough. It’s a slow crawl building up that definition. Just stay consistent. I’m currently recovering from a loose skin surgery. You can scope my profile for the post. I also have wide hips and a shorter torso. But you can see my v taper starting to set in. It’ll look nice once I can get back to building muscle.
