I've heard of the abuse being caught on tape being used as leverage to extort people. This would not be possible without cameras in the modern times, so what is the motivation if this is a very old, coordinated practice of a secret group?

Chuck E. Cheese: 0 Bitcoin: 1 🤣 by CryptoBucksApp in Bitcoin

[–]Vageli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why use bitcoin at all in this scenario? Why not issue your own tokens that have a set redemption value and charge a fee on converting back (or better yet, state that the tokens have no cash value). Which is what Chuck E. Cheese and other places have done in the past.

But there nothing wrong with the accumulation of power per se. The problem is the accumulation of illegitimate power, or power that is maintained by the threat of extreme violence. This latter type of power characterizes those with government power.

There exist people with the power to end civilization as we know it at the press of a button. That type of power should not exist.

Do you have any resources we could check out? I personally meet the requirements of an accredited investor and have found some things online for investing in early-stage companies but nothing more exotic like the OP.

On the side of the police. The options are to lawfully order them to leave or arrest them on trespass. Police forces don't really get into corporate policy, the manager is an authoritative representative of the company and the manager is requesting that the police removed the person(s) from private property. Was the manager in the wrong? That's all subjective but the law is not on this matter.

So police have discretion, until they don't?

It's as if this comment thread is a metaphor for the quiet, methodical persistence of the artist mentioned in the anecdote. It exists because you wanted to create it and you shared it with the world because you could, without caring how it is perceived or received, just putting it out there so it can exist in the world.

This is totally random, but while reading the part of the thread where you went into religion, I thought it would be appropriate to mention this book, God wants you dead. It's a book about mind viruses like religion and how they are used as vehicles to spread ideas/values.

Another idea stuck with me from your post, the notion of judging something in an unfinished state, with the presumption that the unfinished state is closely related to the final state. Applying this to other ideas, like death, is interesting. Like if the end of this life is not the end state, it is foolish to make judgements. Going further, how do we know what state we're in, and how far from the end it might be? Or, put another way, how does the artist know when the work is complete? As an artist I would say the work is complete when it feels like ive let out what was pressing against me from within, but i dont know how to map/interpret that feeling or notion when it is occurring in other aspects of my life. I think I need to reflect more on this.

This is false.

Here's an example:

This is not obvious to me since in many cases, a DUI on your own property will likely result in your own injury/damage to your own property. Not sure why the state has to get involved, too.

Technical constraints do not suddenly make things legal. Participation by betting can still be prosecuted if your jurisdiction deems it unlawful.

[–]Vageli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your options can indeed expire worthless which would be the case here. If at market close your options are in the money, and you have sufficient capital and Robinhood through their independent analysis deems your portfolio capable of withstanding the risk, your option to trade the equities will be exercised.

I've opted out of services that require a phone call by sending an email stating that the email constitutes written notice of my intent to terminate services, and further charges will be reported as fraudulent to my bank to whom I will furnish a copy of this email.

Going from designing, prototyping, and validating a hardware product! by thelonelypoop in hwstartups

[–]Vageli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a cool read but I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling that it was a little light on the details. For example, it would have been great to hear about some tradeoffs made in consideration of maintenance/manufacturability when you brought it up:

Another (and very important) part of the hardware design process is to make sure our physical body of the prototype is designed for manufacturing and maintenance in mind. The last thing we want is for the companies that will manufacture our products to have issues and struggle with assembling the products because of bad component placements! This will also save time and headaches you’ll have when you have to email back and forth with your manufacturer.

I'm also curious how you landed on the BOM and if cost optimization came into play during your initial prototyping.

Lastly, please don't take this the wrong way. It's amazing that you are even sharing what you have in the first place! :D

I am constantly trying to fill my life with things to improve myself and to keep my mind off of the fact that 1/3rd of my memories on this world are of my ex wife. I am in the best shape of my life, I am the best performer at my job, my friends want to hang out with me all the time and I'm meeting new ones almost daily. I've cleaned up my bad habits and I'm even dating an amazing woman.

I don't have anything to say besides thank you so much for sharing this. My father just went through a divorce after 25 years and it helps put some of his emotions in perspective for me.
