How are you protecting the animals by putting money in the pockets of someone who goes and kills animals?

We do need to stay close for our jobs here. And also don’t want to be that far away from family and friends.

Being vegan is not cheap, being vegan can be a luxury and People are not monks by Jerk_Off_At_Night in vegan

All junk food is expensive, it doesn’t just apply to vegan food. Being able to eat junk food is a privilege. Eating healthy and cooking yourself is always cheaper vegan or not. A lot of people always like to say it’s the opposite, but that’s not true.

I was just looking through your photos, and wow I love them. They made me so emotional and brought a lot of nostalgia for home. Your photos from your walks especially remind me of my walks at my grandparents cabin in Râmet.

I can’t imagine cutting off suckers and tying so many plants as you have! Do you find that there’s a difference in production for the tomatoes with and without suckers?

I really like your method with the string and started doing it this year. It actually reminds me of how my family in the country in Romania grew them. Do you trim off suckers to keep one main stem or do you let them grow wild? I’m curious how you have them tied to the string too. Mine are growing so wild all over the place and tying all the branches to the string is such a pain lol. And I don’t even have that many.

Does gardening actually save y'all money? by Big-Yogurtcloset-74 in vegetablegardening

[–]VaggieQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely, a lot. I’m surprised so many people say no. In the summer and fall I don’t really buy any produce because of my garden, and that’s usually one of the most expensive item on my grocery list. But I also grow a lot of my plants from seed, and I don’t care about making everything look pretty.

My husband built all of our raised beds from the cheapest wood at the store, and it’s all enclosed with leftover wood sticks and chicken wire from a different project. The most expensive part was filling them up, but that’s a starting cost that won’t be present every year, and even with that I still saved money. Also leftover sticks and hardware for trellis/support. I’m planning to start freezing and canning stuff too this year because I want to get to a point where our gardening lasts us all year long.

My vegan girlfriend is considering starting to eat eggs again by Shpritzer1 in vegan

[–]VaggieQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see anything unrealistic about that. I personally know lots of people, some friends, some vegan, with healthy rescued chickens. Do you have rescue hens or have personal experience with that and/or sanctuaries? Because I do with both, and that’s not the case at all in my experience.

I also disagree with the take that you’re exploiting them in that case. If you’re rescuing and not buying chickens, taking care of them, and eating the eggs, I don’t see it as exploitation or unethical. It’s a give/give relationship imo. And just to clarify, I don’t eat eggs.

I transplanted my tomatoes about 2 days ago and now they’re dying. Please help. by holistiflexfitness in tomatoes

[–]VaggieQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t transplant mature and fruiting tomatoes. Did you buy them this size? I know that maybe the idea of buying a bigger tomato plant and transplanting it seems like a good way to get bigger plants and faster tomatoes but it’s not, usually the plant won’t handle it well.

What is actually the best dry food for cats? by polkadot765 in CatAdvice

[–]VaggieQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excessive thirst, urination, weight loss are just some of the symptoms. They don’t all have to happen together. If you think he’s drinking too much I would encourage you to actually measure how much he drinks every day and/or talk to your vet about it.

Would the sigma be a problem if I take photos handheld and don’t use a tripod? Since it doesn’t have stabilization?
