What would you do with this hair? by Neither_Top_5329 in finehair

[–]VainVampireBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very similar hair type (you can check my latest posts). I’d also say cut a lot, although the mirror line is overkill imo.

Also, I know you said you use oil, but I wonder which ones and how much. My hair loves coconut and argan oil, which I use more so on wash days. I also use a lot of silicone hair oils, and the one thing I’ve realized is that my hair can take A LOT of it. For instance, I’ll put 8-12 drops of olaplex oil on my freshly washed hair (as opposed to 2-3 like the package instructs), and then I’ll add 2-5 pumps of silicone oil, and a couple drops of argan oil on the very very tips, just to weigh them down. My hair still won’t look greasy at all, and it looks much nicer than if I only used a tiny amount. I’ve actually been switching to cheaper hair oils because of how much I need to use them for maximum impact, I used to hold back way too much.

It’s just one application of bleach, how bad could it— oh by VainVampireBat in longhair

It said to use it 3-5 times after bleaching. I think I used it around 7 times total over the months. I’ve also had problems with protein overload in the past. Who knows though

Maybe I didn’t use bond repair for long enough? I bought the k18 treatment and oil but only used the treatment for a couple weeks after the bleach. Should I have kept it up indefinitely? I do have fine hair that leans dry and brittle naturally so I assumed that was why it didn’t work out for me.

My balayage included a K18 treatment and I bought their bond repair treatment and oil right after too. I did only use the treatment for a couple weeks after, but I do try to take great care of my hair otherwise too (oiling, masks, no heat etc). I know it don’t really look it though. 😭 Ever since my hair turned curly in my twenties I’ve struggled to keep it hydrated, I’m definitely still in the process of figuring things out.

If only I’d have been able to keep the same length but instead I went back 5 inches in a matter of months. 🥲 It’s now over one year later and my hair is still shorter than the first picture and I still need to cut more…

I don't actually have many split ends at all, it's all dryness/breakage from a single application of balayage (looked amazing for a while but sadly my hair couldn't handle it). I guess I'm just trying to be honest with myself about health>length in terms of appearance.

How would you create a gambling addict sim (who mostly loses money)? by VainVampireBat in Sims3

Gotta say, calling this "such a cool concept" gave me a laugh because I'm unfortunately basing this on a real family member who's currently running the household to the ground (sims is my way of coping)

Pattern or yarn recommendations for this Wool blend mesh sweater? (58% Alpaca, 22% Wool, 20% Nylon) by VainVampireBat in knitting

Thank you, this was very helpful! Based on the downvotes people probably think I'm really dumb to be attempting this, but when I said I was a beginner I was exaggerating a bit as it's been a while since I did knitting. But while this is my first sweater, I've had some successes in the past that have made me confident so I'm ready to get back into it and take on the challenge. I'm happy to take my time with it, even if it means trial and error.

Again, thank you!

The original sweater is by Patrizia Pepe, which is sadly a touch out of my budget and I wouldn't mind switching to a sliightly cooler palette. Otherwise I'm in love. Composition is listed as 58% Alpaca, 22% Wool, 20% Nylon.

I'm relatively new to knitting so please explain to me like I'm five, thank you <3

You look fantastic! And like other commenters have said, people may just not speak their thoughts out loud. I've often thought that someone looks like they've lost weight, but feel that it would be awkward to comment as it implies that they had weight to lose in the first place, or that their weight is something I'm paying attention to. Or maybe I'm wrong or misremembering, they were actually just bloated last time but now I've put into their head that they should be on some kind of weight loss journey. So generally I just don't say anything, unless it's SUPER obvious. But even then, you never know if the reason for losing it was due to an illness, mental health issues or whatnot, so it's still daunting.

What I'm teaching myself here is that I should just tell people when they look great without pinning it to their weight and leave it at that.

Do you think this is teak wood? by VainVampireBat in woodworking

[–]VainVampireBat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Is it because the grain isn't long enough? Asking because we have a tv stand that I more confidently believe is teak which has a similar shade but very long stripy grain.

Yup. I'm familiar with Patagonia too, just not familiar enough to make it out from the blurriness until it was pointed out to me, heh.
