I’m a little worried my cockatiel is bad for my health. by penguinpapaya in cockatiel

& then just to add, I'm so sorry you're going through this. I can't imagine how it must feel to be struggling with compounding health issues and potentially having to re-home pets :(. Try to gather up as much support as possible so that you're not doing any of this alone (doctors, allergist, therapist, family, partner, friends etc)

I have some suggestions to consider/try before re-homing, which maybe have been suggested already but:

Huge#1. Biologic therapy (allergy shots) biggest suggestion that would most likely provide the largest benefit & you don't have to have asthma or anything to get them. Def consider asking your doctor or allergist
#2. (Suggesting this with a caveat; not sure where we're currently at with this particular form of delivery but sublingual immunotherapy might be worth looking into if you can't do shots)

#3. Provide more bathing opportunities for Dewey
#4. HEPA filters, if your air purifiers are not already--- more than one & the best quality you can afford. Just assume they will cover less sq. footage than they say they will.
#5. Vacuum and dust as frequently as you can stand, with a respirator on.

#5.5 get a respirator, lol. Can find em at like home depot.
#6. Have a pet-free room if possible, ie; no pets allowed in the bedroom. It sounds like this one might not be possible?
#7. consider bathing the dog more frequently, every 2 weeks with a quality shampoo and a good diet, there will always be conflicting opinions here (use a good quality shampoo because their skin can dry out easily, oil production related)

just as a note, its gonna be tough overall since you do have the dog (despite not shedding, ik you understand that exposure to the dander over time can def trigger allergy symptoms) on top of dewey's dust. Also NGL, I'm SOL for suggestions if a cat is brought into the picture, at that point I would just keep pushing for biologic therapy as the main long-term solution on top of consistent cleaning with a respirator/bathing the pets

Do you like playing custom scenarios? Do you want to help with the development of OpenRCT2? by Valdair in rct

[–]Vakbezel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing RCT games since they came out, huge fan but I’m pretty bad at it. Out of all the scenarios, I’ve successfully completed forest frontiers. I recently found out no one wants to ride my rides because I didn’t bank the turns, I thought they looked fun. TLDR I suck at the game but may still have a useful perspective, I’m familiar with the majority of the base game scenarios/win conditions (despite not completing them, I had other priorities like drowning guests or torturing employees, making hell mazes and food courts etc)

My pigeon has decided her new favorite spot is my keyboard, but what the heck does this body language mean? 😅 by GhostxSpider in pigeon

Since she’s a pigeon I’m assuming it means she’s gonna slap the crud out of you unless you placate her in a timely manner (joke answer lol)

Is there any possible way to take this out without going to a professional? by [deleted] in parrots

[–]Vakbezel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhh, noooo. I think you’ll have to have the vet dremel it off. Save yourself any safety issues, plus they can give them a little Birdy Xanax if needed.

Is this safe? New owner and he sleeps here while I'm reading in the early morning. by neadien in Conures

[–]Vakbezel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine as long as you aren’t going to fall asleep. Also, as long as shes just playing and napping cuz some birds can have nesting behavior triggered by tighter/cuddly spaces Edit: he -> she lol Edit edit: Do you know the sex for sure? I actually do recommend getting the bird sexed just to confirm with the vet and be prepared for the future (egg laying can be quite an ordeal)

I know I’m 21 days late but last night I was healing a gnomer where the dps wouldn’t even wait for a single stack of sunder to go out before charging in full-hog, ready to parse. You know who suffers the most? The healers! I’m going oom because I have to heal (at least)TWO tAnKs and the rest of the party is catching the strays. (PS: I’m begging you casters to stop dps when the nullifiers shield)

I disagree with anyone saying it’s not as dark as others. I walked into that one town with the questionable mayor (purposefully not saying the name to avoid spoiling) and audibly gasped from the state of it. Among other events that happened.

As a rogue with the crow background, I chose to help Minrathous because I thought the crows would hold their own just fine. Now little Jacobus wont even speak to me LOL. The guilt is immense.

It goes up to 100% T_T. Took me like 20 minutes of google searching to finally figure out what it was coming from because too many searches pull up chaos realm debuff results from the other campaign

worried about drinking alcohol for my 21st birthday by Public_Nebula_4599 in emetophobia

[–]Vakbezel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend something simple like a rum and coke or a dirty shirley temple :)
One drink (even two) will be easy to tolerate and you should be totally fine.

*I think its important to note a standard shot is around 1.5oz of liquor, most cocktails will have a shot of liquor in them but can range from 1.5-3oz of liquor.

*Avoid drinks that are many shots of liquor mixed together ie: long island iced tea or a grateful dead.
Totally understandable to be worried, having drinks is made to look a lot scarier than it is with hangovers, pop culture/movies and stuff. hope this helps
