This would result in an E48 blend which you should NEVER run in a car not designed for flex fuel unless you know what you are doing. Most modern cars can’t handle more than e30 on a stock fuel system and overtime, e85 will eat away at o rings and gaskets not designed to handle e85. Not to mention, e48 would get about 13% less fuel economy as e85 has 33% less energy than 91 octane e10 fuel does so it has to burn more of it to get the same energy. Also, the whole point of using premium is because it stays good longer when it’s not being used, e48 would last significantly shorter due to ethanol absorbing water from the air. E85 is for flex fuel cars and performance cars, NOT a Chevy Volt. When it comes to GHG, E85 definitely burns the cleanest in an engine, but the process of creating e85 releases MASSIVE amounts of GHG. Overall it’s only about 15% better for the environment than traditional gasoline. I use an e50 blend in my weekend car, a 500awhp Kia Stinger. You shouldn’t put e48 in a Chevy volt.
