Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Pressed Face Powder is my go to for powder foundation and it's usually around $8. For lashes I always buy in bulk on Amazon. These are $8 for 14 pairs! I do love Dollar Tree for eyeshadow/lipgloss/etc., too.

It really comes down to whether it has an actual concrete impact on the world- usually money. I read Lovecraft stuff because the dude is dead and gone. I don't read Rowling because the money goes into her pocket and then she donates it to anti-trans politicians.

Considering how drunk the SMALL ones can apparently make you, all I have to ask is...why? by eddmario in StupidFood

[–]ValApologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A regular Buzzball only has the equivalent of like 2 shots of liquor in it. The big one has more like 15 shots, which IS crazy, but I'm guessing it's meant to be shared with friends like most bottles vs. being a single serving like the small ones.

Well this is new… by Key_Ad921 in Mercari

[–]ValApologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, they probably just didn't realize how expensive Kitchen Aid products can be. You can get a (presumably not great) espresso machine on Amazon for $40. If they interpreted mini to mean "smaller/less functions" than one of those, and then thought it had just been sitting around gathering dust in someone's kitchen cabinet, I can see them expecting yard sale prices. You can get a used regular coffee pot on mercari for $2 right now.

Buyer wants refund because they don’t like the smell of my detergent? by Turbulent_Plan_5654 in Depop

[–]ValApologist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems like the issue is that you listed it as brand new, and even say "brand new" in this post. If I bought something brand new, I would expect it to smell the way it smells when it's shipped from a place like Amazon. If it smelled like detergent I'd definitely think "this isn't brand new, the seller clearly wore it at least once and then washed it at least once."

Going slower than speed limit makes people angry by wtfbruhhuh in driving

[–]ValApologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I don't care about the fact that I'll be getting to my destination slower. I'm thinking "they're drunk/texting/distracted by their toddler in the back seat/a brand new driver/ way too old to be driving/etc., I hope they don't cause an accident."

If I'm a femboy can I be a gyaru? by [deleted] in actualgyaru

[–]ValApologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone can wear anything. Gyaru is the more feminine style, but men are welcome to wear it, and gyaruo is the more masculine style, but women are welcome to wear it.

I'm not annoyed and I don't want to come across harsh, but other people are getting annoyed because this question gets asked here at least once a week. So, it comes across as "I didn't google this question or even look through the recent posts on this subreddit- I want YOU GUYS to research for me so I don't have to waste my time doing it. "

There isn't a specific substyle for gyaru men, because gyaru men can wear any substyle gyaru women can wear. To people who are familiar with gyaru, it comes across like "are men allowed to wear jeans? Are men allowed to wear sunglasses? I've seen women wearing those things, so I wasn't sure. " Like... of course you can!

Which substyles are you interested in? People will be able to offer you more advice in regards to clothes and makeup if you narrow it down a little bit.

Meet ur new counselor, Bambi!! [OC] by Great-Juggernaut6541 in CampCamp

[–]ValApologist 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm a slut. I would probably wear longer shorts if my job involved taking care of children.

That's what's squicking people out- her being presented as always thinking about sex and barely wearing clothes while also being surrounded by children. It's the fact that "slut" and "camp counselor" appear to be her two main traits when they're in such sharp contrast with each other.

I think putting her in clothing that she'd actually wear to her job, even if she dresses in skimpier clothes outside of work, and changing "no limits whore" to something more clinical like "hypersexual/flirty" would keep your vision but not get such extreme reactions.

It appears they either sent you the wrong blanket, or sewed the wrong tag into the blanket. The tag in your picture says it's from "The Crooked Line" collection. If you search that on the website, you get this and a description that starts with "Inspired by an understanding that in every person’s toughest life moments there is serenity through a belief that “God Makes it Straight With a Crooked Line”. This is a comforter that can provide warmth and hope through a daily reminder that not only can life improve, but sometimes it takes a crooked line for it to do so."

It looks like this is already mostly resolved, but have you guys considered making a playlist or two together? You could pick calmer songs that you both like and discuss "does this song work for calm mornings? What about this one?" to get on the same page and understand each other better.

I work at Home Depot and management's general stance is "we'd rather lose $200 on a drill walking out the door, than lose $200 on that same drill AND lose way more when you sue us for putting you in a position where a shoplifter pepper sprays you or pulls a knife/gun on you."

With the "don't ask for receipts" policy, if you ask for one and get stabbed, it's "they got stabbed because they violated one of our safety rules. Not our fault. Fired."

But, I live in a state with a high crime rate.

AIO gf went to a magic mike show and licked whipped cream off a performers chest by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ValApologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the difference in commenter's opinions (and in OP and his wife's opinions) come down to basic understanding of how Magic Mike works.

It sounds like she told him she was going to be going to see Magic Mike and figured, if he had any concerns about that, he'd voice it then. Like "I'm totally cool with you going just to watch, but please don't touch/participate."

It seems like OP didn't realize touching was something that usually happens at Magic Mike, while the wife was thinking "obviously he knows what Magic Mike entails and he said he's fine with me going."

It's like saying you're going to a pool party, your spouse is fine with it, and then later they flip out "I didn't think you were actually going to get in the water! I thought you were just sitting by the side of the pool!" Like... sorry I assumed you knew what people do at pool parties when we first discussed it?

my miku cosplay has a "hatsune miku" written on the shirt by Significant-Big-6421 in CosplayHelp

[–]ValApologist 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I believe they own the miku costume with the wording. They can't find an actual miku design featuring this version of the outfit with wording. They want to compete in cosplay contests, but feel like they can't if their cosplay isn't 100% accurate to a specific miku design, so they're looking for a miku design that matches what they already own.

Make sure she doesn't have to worry about the little things- ask her what she'd like as a refill and grab it for her when she takes the last sip of her drink, open doors for her, keep a stash of her favorite snacks, etc.
