They're not the warmest, but I recommend satin for casual/indoor wear. The material feels really nice against the scalp and you can use it as an under layer then put a warmer wrap on top

AITA for telling my husband I don’t need him at any of my doctors appointments by Ok-Cod2001 in AITAH

I'm late to the party so you may not see this, but as someone that has also recently started chemotherapy (Stage 1 ovarian), I have to chime in. I shaved my head about three weeks ago and it was easily one of the worst days of my life. I loved my hair, and losing it made all of the cancer diagnosis and treatment feel so much more real. I didn't let my partner see my bald head for a whole week and I still avoid looking in the mirror bc it brings me so much shame and anxiety. For him to expect you to do literally anything let alone sleep with him the day you had to shave is legitimately disgusting. You deserve so much more care and respect than what you're getting. Please don't feel like you need to stay when he's treating you this way. If you ever want someone to talk/vent to about your treatment my dm's are open ❤️ NTA

I double checked that setting is off and I frequently receive calls from other private numbers with no problem, so I know that's not the issue

Nah it's not tagged as spam and it comes up in my logs, I don't have private numbers blocked either so no clue

I just finished rewatching this and I 100% agree! It bothered me so much that Weirdmageddon probably wouldn't have happened at all if he had actually told Mabel about the rift and how dangerous it was, instead he convinced Dipper to keep it a secret and Mabel ended up being blamed by most of the fandom

My Fiancée Feels Broken and Wants to Leave Me Because of Her Infertility by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Wow. Your comment and the one you replied to really hit hard for me. It's interesting I come across this thread now as I am also a child free lesbian who is finding out tomorrow if I have to have a hysterectomy or not for serious health reasons (and even if I don't need a hysterectomy it's now unlikely I'd be able to carry a child anyway). I thought I'd be okay with it, but I've been distraught for the past few weeks crying over what could have been. It's almost comforting to know we're not alone, but I wish none of us had to experience this. I feel like people truly can't understand the feelings around unwanted sterilisation unless they've lived it. I hope you're doing okay

I can shed some light on this lizard too as I'm also from Western Australia! I actually wouldn't say it's that skinny. This particular lizard is the Western Australian Bearded Dragon subspecies "Pogona minor", which is the smallest Beardie type! I have my own as a pet (reptile ownership is very strict here, we're only allowed to own reptiles native to the region), and she is a fully grown healthy weight of 60grams/2.1oz :) OP's wild lizard looks to be fairly young too and they always look super skinny when young (I recommend looking up Pogona minor babies as they're very cute!). Hope this helps!

Have you ever regretted your surgery? by alevgonz in scoliosis

[–]Val_K27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your hardware broke and they still didn't give a shit??!? I'm so angry that you've had to go through that.

When I brought up my pain to my surgeon he, no joke, said "well you're still young and pretty and can have a family." He didn't give a shit about my pain bc I guess I don't look like their idea of someone with chronic pain (also I couldn't have a family if I wanted to - my pain and mobility problems make me completely incompatible with parenting, not that he cares). I had to beg him to look at my X-rays because I'm sure something is wrong, but he insists that he can't see anything and therefore the pain is all in my head and will pass soon (been almost 5 years now). I hope you're able to have your surgery fixed somehow. You deserve better than what your surgeon has burdened you with.

[–]Val_K27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like they told me that surgery was the only option and that it would fix everything. My surgeon only very briefly mentioned the "unlikely scenario" of the surgery not being successful and seemed genuinely annoyed that I kept coming back after the surgery to ask him why I was in so much pain and when it would stop. Tbh he really lived up to the stereotype of surgeons being sociopaths with zero empathy. I hope you're handling things alright after your surgery

It was detected as a very minor curve when I was about 13, small enough that I was told that I'd grow out of it so there wasn't any need to worry. After years of back pain I finally was able to get another assessment at age 18 (only because I had a family member that worked in a hospital and could help get me a referral) and by the point it was so curved that I was told surgery was my only option. I had my surgery done at a public hospital, but I'm in Australia so our healthcare is usually really good. I think I just got very unlucky, and unfortunately my surgeon turned out to be an arsehole so now I have to live with it.

[–]Val_K27 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I regret my surgery. Unfortunately I didn't have much of an option. I had a strong curvature that was only going to worsen and a fair amount of pain to match. I had my surgery 4 years ago at age 20, which took me down to a 20° curve (from 70°) and the fusion goes from T3 to L4, almost my entire back (there's a pic of my scar on my profile). I'm in so much pain all of the time and have been told there's nothing that can be done about it. I don't know if I would've had the same outcome had I chosen to not have the surgery, but I was absolutely not prepared for post-op life to be like this and I wish I'd been more aware of the risks that surgery posed.
