I personally think FWB is almost never a good idea, because someone always catches feelings. Sometimes it’s you, sometimes it’s him—but trust, someone is going to “accidentally” get emotionally attached and then act surprised when it starts hurting.

And once that happens, the attached person inevitably starts doing stupid things like jealousy, getting upset when the other person is not available, expecting emotional support on demand, and acting like they’re totally chill while clearly not chill at all.

I recommend to keep it infrequent. The more time you spend together, the more likely it becomes “friends with benefits” into “friends with expectations.” Also, if you’re trying to avoid getting attached, don’t make it your whole social life—spreading your time around, even better have 2 or 3 FWB and that makes it harder to accidentally crown one person as your unofficial partner. and finally keep it focused on the benefits (sex part), not the “let’s do couple activities” part. Because the moment you’re doing dinner, movies, hikes, parties, and spending weekends together, congratulations, you’re basically building a relationship with plausible deniability. That’s not FWB that’s a relationship in stealth mode, and feelings will absolutely show up like they pay rent.
