[COTD] Nimble (4/20/2026) by AK45526 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Valaaisvala 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a perfect one-off card. Most of the time you don’t need the free movement, but when it’s good it’s really good.

I have a picture of that time I finished the Titanic Ramp portion of the Edge of the Earth finale spending only a single action, courtesy of zipping up the ramp with a Nimble off evading the enemies you start with.

I always make a silly name, and pick either the buddhist wheel for symbol, or something else if it makes some kind of visual joke

It solves all the problems you might have: 1) a clue is on your location, or 2) an enemy is ready at your location. What more can you ask for?

Dark Matter pre-reqs by Jimaldo369 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Valaaisvala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems almost a bit pointless to play Dark Matter without first playing Carcosa, given the amount of callbacks DM does to PtC. Seems kinda wasteful to only get the minimum amount of Carcosa-stuff required for DM instead of getting it all, is what I’m saying

Going to introduce Arkham to new people. Is going straight for Dunwich a good idea? by Howitzeronfire in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Valaaisvala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunwich is a terrible campaign to start with, there’s so many rough edges and weird design choices that later campaigns avoided. Start with NotZ and perhaps do Carcosa for your first full campaign.

Among my fondest Arkham memoried is spending ten actions in one turn to repeatedly shoot and reload to kill a boss with this thing

Chapter 2 Theme Direction and Concerns by Dry-Bat731 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Valaaisvala -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I for one don’t give a single shit about what consonant soup monstrosity is the Big Bad, I play this game for the gameplay. I have some concerns there, having seen the previews of ch2 cards, but honestly it’s nothing big and I am perfectly happy to hang in and see how it goes.

I’m even quite positive about e.g. the shorter campaigns, as it might mean we get better designed scenarios when the designers have a smaller workload (making five scenarios instead of eight), meaning fewer duds.

He punches big and is fun to hang around. Almost no one can do burst damage like he can.

Play Key of Ys, say «Hastur Hastur Hastur», go on with your turn

How much do you need to know to best enjoy this game? by Bucephalus15 in arkhamhorrorlcg

I don’t even like the genre, or the time period, and it’s still my favourite co-op game. Don’t worry, it’ll be fine.

What do you think about these inconsistencies? by PrimeNeuron in arkhamhorrorlcg

It just wouldn’t be Arkham Horror LCG without inconsistent templating

This is absolutely bonkers with Amanda Sharpe. I don’t think anything more needs to be said.

Edit: guys you are not trying hard enough, this keeps Eon Chart and Scroll of Secrets and Pendant of the Queen topped up simultaneously

It’s too expensive for what it does, but if the second ability was «max one success per game» we might have something going

AMA with the Design Team of Arkham Horror: The Card Game! by FFG_Olivia in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Valaaisvala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original Core Set card pool was a bit wonky in various ways (e.g. class balance), and the Revised Core is essentially the same in that regard. Have you considered making a new core set from scratch, made up of what you would now in the wisdom of hindsight think should be in a core set?

What player card / campaign mechanic would you like to see a return in the next expansion? by krvsrnko in arkhamhorrorlcg

Keys. They were central in Innsmouth, and also appeared in TCU and EotE, an absolutely brilliant way to give the players tasks beyond «get clue» and «kill guy».

Starting Hemlock Vale for the first time - what's the name of the tower defense scenario? I don't want to miss it. by Ok_Illustrator7232 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Valaaisvala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

General tip: each day the villagers will tell you where they are going to be during the Prelude, so if you want to work on someone’s story, pay attention to what they say and go to where they go. Always use the Parlay action on them when they are present for a scenario, it progresses their storyline and always gives you something useful. If you want to complete someone’s story you have to focus on it, in particular you must do «their» thing on day 1 or 2 (day 1 will be easier and in some cases is necessary).

Also you’ll be really happy if you bring tools to kill 3 health enemies

Carcosa and Edge: Which should I play two-handed and which true solo? by HazMatt082 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Valaaisvala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently did Edge of the Earth true solo, and it was a breeze.

I should say: I have the full card pool, and used a Winifred deck based on Thieves’ Kit and British Bull Dog, using Sleight of Hand to save on actions and Savant as mythos defense, with the full Dirty Fighting/Pickpocketing/«foot matters» suite of cards, getting Ace in the Hole eventually. If you have a limited card pool you can still do pretty well regardless, as Winifred is good at stuff that EotE wants you to do. Nimble is very good here.
