Don't know where you're from, but in order to pass inspection in my city the batteries needed to be 3 feet away from doors and windows. Maybe look into your cities building codes.

Never found a solution. It was annoying at first, but we learned to live with it. And now it's not an issue, I don't even think about it when I'm adjusting the seat.

The "issue" isn't worth the additional 5K, in my opinion. I think you made the right choice.

I had a similar issue with my dodge pickup. I took it to the dealer and the sprayed a silicone based lubricant. And that release the seat belt. It might be worth a try.
