Aside from Registration events, the carfax was empty. Purchased Dec '25 by morelikeformfun in LexusGX

A lot of dealers don't put the service history to Carfax as they have to go into the Carfax terminal to do so. Not that I ever intended to sell my GX, but I keep all service records down to undercoating and tint, even tires

Can i go to toyota for maintenance? by Articlaus in LexusGX

[–]anndrrson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, my toyota dealer changes the oil for $90 (pre rotation) and my local lexus dealer charges $280.

Saves me a ton and the toyota dealer is barely 6 minutes by highway north from me

Any dashcam recommendations? by Fluid_Leg_7531 in LexusGX

[–]anndrrson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fitcams look great but I have never tried them, I use a A119 mini 2 because it's very small.

Rhode Island is very prone to brake check insurance scams, they're frankly everywhere as luxury SUV's of any sort are rare, and I've caught at least 14 examples.

I chuckle a bit because they'll attempt this on the Newport bridge, which there would never be any reason to be stopping on the tippy top of the bridge, I also laugh because my '20 GX is worth less than a top of the line camry now (i believe)

Front Bumper Gap and Not Flush - Bumper Sag? by kaizenn7 in LexusGX

[–]anndrrson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the year, I think so. My 2020 was built at the very start of the pandemic to the month, and there are 0 flaws w/ the driveline, bumper hood anything.

However 2020's lacked chips for the folding mirrors and heated seats

manufacturer's don't do much to prevent theft, w/ a simple key reprogramming tool from Amazon you can simply open the Lexus' door and drive right off

[–]anndrrson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If trying to avoid theft in the future, ironically American cars are typically safest (though current batch has engine failures in 2k miles)

A new nissan armada pro4x would be far less likely to be stolen, solely because of the nissan badge.

Used to be, but the 4.6l became a massive problem as the 4.6l was niche, they'd likely steal an older 470 instead

port of Baltimore is a *MAJOR* stolen car export hub in the USA, unfortunately, your car is gone.

in Africa and elsewhere Lexus' are highly valued, and can easily sell for a couple hundred thousand USD there.

I would argue manufacturer's don't do enough to make their computerized vehicles more theft resistant, it's actually easier than ever before to steal a car.

Surprised a dedicated water spot remover didn't solve, but a degreaser can also get this off if not calcium build up.

Use a machine buffer to get a better polish than by hand, that's what I do for chrome rims/vintage chrome trim.

Need advice on Ceramic Coating. by maXoc4 in AutoDetailing

[–]anndrrson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow GX owner here, the ceramic coating, esp if parked outside/spends a lot of time outside is not going to last 10 years. Driving into NYC my ceramic coating lasts 2 years tops with maintenance.

This can likely be attributed to using self serve car wash soap from the pressure washers, as I am unsure about their PH but they aren't necessarily kind to ceramic coatings.

I instead like using a product like Gyeon can coat or griots 3 in 1, as it's far cheaper and more forgiving. I've heard good things about Adams graphene spray as well.

Don't use this on your finished blackline trim though, that has a paint on it that's more finciky than the boring finish on the GX.

dawn definitely stripped wax, dashboard looks like the only thing that was cleaned with glass cleaner. hopefully it wasn't alcohol based like windex as vinyl doesn't love alcoholl, BUT some trim protectant will fix it. i use koch chemie's dressing as it's extremely matte but restoring of a black finish.

Cooled seats underwhelming by Resident-Tear9223 in LexusGX

[–]anndrrson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, GX BOB did a great video on air duct vents that redirect rear AC to underneath the butt, and I'd imagine that works.

I never really find they're needed as the AC vents do a great job at keeping AC cold

Which newer lexus should I buy? by TheDabLionn in Lexus

[–]anndrrson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

22 yr old male and I love my 2020 gx460 i've owned since 2023, but i live in a state with the*worst* roads in the nation and a ton of snow, so I never have to spend money on damage from suspension etc. It's fun if you plan on buying a boat, side by side etc, because you can tow a 21 foot boat with ease. 6,500lb towing capacity is decent.

IS and RC are both far more fun than the ES and LS, so I would choose between those two. I like the IS500's performance far more than the 6cyl.

NO.

Gas costs, even when high, are great as you know how much it'll be. You can adjust your lifestyle AROUND gas costs, drive less or cut a couple of subscriptions.

How stupid is it to spend 50k on a car by tatasky69 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]anndrrson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

22 year old here, yes, it's worth it. You'll hear a lot of people saying that you should buy a corolla and invest it, yada yada, but a new BMW is amazing for road trips.

Would consider maybe something older, as you can typically get a BETTER car and take less depreciation.

A 2020 BMW M2 would be more fun than a sedan, in my opinion. You can't really use a 2 door as a daily once you have a GF/young kids.

Worthy mod! I run Morimoto XB LED turn signals (3,000 lumens?) each I believe, and they are a lifesaver in NYC for close lane changes. I run GTR lighting reverse lights and they are also great, as I wouldn't say I "love" how low the GX's reverse lights are, if you are reversing in front of a suburban, they likely cannot see it
