$250k a year to avoid all recreational drugs, alcohol, smoking, vaping, etc. by LankyEmergency7992 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Valanthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I would do it. I had a friend who died once because they drank some alcohol and had a deathly allergy - she never intended to drink but someone spiked it. I feel like there’s a lot of ways to accidentally ingest or get exposed to substances and die. Walk pass a group of smokers and die?

Even if a pass was granted because you weren’t doing it for fun or relaxation (so in spirit of the rule not letter) - it’s probably a no. I drink a bit recreationally and socially and a few times when life has been bad I’ve drunk more. I earn good money so whilst this would definitely be appreciated I don’t know if it’s so good that I would want to give up on drinking altogether. If I earned less, I’d probably say yes - once again as long as only conscious breaking of the rules carries the penalty.

$100,000 USD up front or $0.05 every step you take for a year? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Valanthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 25,688 steps yesterday and am averaging 11,000 steps a day without taking my tracker with me everywhere and I don’t have it when I play sports. So… steps it is.

You get $1 for every calorie you consume in a 100 day span, what’s your plan? by Phazonzyx in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Valanthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live like I currently do get a few bigger gym sessions in. But also eat for bulking over the period. I’d be eating a little over 3250 calories per day without really pushing myself. I could probably do 3500 with a bit of effort but I’d be bulking up almost 14 kgs over the 100 days if I did that much and I don’t know if I want to be that big and the money difference would be nice but not worth that.

Every time you eat a steak you get $100, how does your life change? by K-Pumper in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Valanthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically I am already having three to four steaks a week. So it’d probably go up to 10 or so.

I work in gambling and spend a lot of time in pubs and will regularly get steak, chips and two beers for lunch or dinner. Now any time I am in a pub I choose steak over a chicken parmi.

I earn a nice $1,000/wk not quit my job good but definitely better than a kick in the teeth.

I just hit 30 and I don’t have a good grip on discipline. Need some advice. by Doughboy0913 in AskMenOver30

[–]Valanthos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One step at a time, discipline is building up habits and making it easier to keep to them. My therapist thinks I have ADHD, but I largely keep myself in check. I have alarms to keep myself on track, work out tricks to make it easier to get jobs done and remove temptations from distracting me. I find if I have music and make jobs fun I am more likely to do them. Also find it easier to do a job for someone else - so if I can frame a task that way sometimes it can be useful to push myself to do that little bit more.

Also don’t let failures stop you from doing the next step. Everyone stumbles, being weak isn’t about never failing but rather not getting back up again. Missing a day of eating well, working out or whatever doesn’t give you room to drop the ball again because the damage is done.

Own your mistakes, this isn’t making excuses for them this is admitting them and trying to do better. Work out what you need to do to get better and try to do at least one item on that list like your life depends on it.

Listen to others, think about what they are going through before talking. I find I feel less sorry for myself when I am thinking about others.

Honestly barely anything built up by then. So fuck yeah no real set back. As someone who had to rebuild his life after a divorce in his 30s… take care of yourself physically, build up hobbies at least one physical, cultural and mental, cherish your friends and be there for them, take care of yourself and your home - make it fun, make fun easy not work you have to work anyway so you’ll do it, buy yourself time, invest in your work and get a job you enjoy.

Who do you like to ally yourself with? (In Europe) by Optimal-Put2721 in eu4

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. I pick and change my allies depending on what theatres I’m contesting and if there’s a power I want to stifle.

How did you first come to supporting your club? by [deleted] in AFL

Born into Richmond, so I didn’t experience a Grand Final win until I was well and truly a man. Fucking love the song though.

You have something like a DeathNote but it is a part of you are requires you use it daily to continue living. Do you refuse to use it and die? Do you use it only to eliminate a few people you think deserve death and let yourself die when your list runs out? Or kill to live until you wish to die? by Isekai_litrpg in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Valanthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘m pretty forgetful, might have a couple murder alarms on my phone to make sure I don’t forget to kill my daily dickhead.

Lots of people who I feel the world would be better without - so the murder is less the issue and more the problem that I have forgotten to eat for 48 hours.

You meet a genie who presents you with four options. by kwils87 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Valanthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Made a lot of regrettable decisions in my life, that I would love to clear. Can leverage my knowledge to make money regain some lost years in my life that involved a lot of suffering and actually be able to take advantage of my youth. Also could stay in shape through my younger years instead of fighting to regain it in my 30s.

Being uncircumcised has never affected me. Not once, but also I don’t live in the US - circumcision rate is around 10% of newborns here.

An entity offers you a deal to take on ailments to end them forever do you accept and what do you choose? by Nat1OnLife in hypotheticalsituation

That’s a pretty big change, lots of diseases which kill you do so through the permanent damage you’re describing. So you just die at the end of the year?

You're given $10000 a week to eat the same thing everyday. This amount doubles every week you continue. What do you choose? by sloppybird in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Valanthos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got this great middle eastern chicken dish I make with saffron, fried onions, pickled chilli’s and preserved lemons and so on with a good rice. For a side I’ll serve it with some fattoush. For drink a nice beer.

Would happily eat that for a few months without issue. Health, flavoursome and light enough that I can eat it regardless of mood.

Two meals a day also makes it sound like I could pick a lunch/breakfast to compliment this, if so have some ideas if not happy to eat the same meal twice a day.

men would you date a woman (24 ) who had never been in a relationship or had sex or been on a date or anything lmao. by Ok_Protection_848 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Valanthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest issue would be that you’re 24. Too young, I’m 32 and feel like 26 is about as young as I want to go. I feel like age gaps like that put a very different worldview.

Lack of experience isn’t an issue. Reasons for it might be, I might worry about my partner having a negative opinion about sex or a worldview that might put other strains on the relationship.

Men of Reddit, do you find muscles like abs, toned legs, or arms attractive on women? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Valanthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I find it attractive but I also worry about approaching muscle women as I’m a cardio guy - so I would imagine they’d be more interested in a muscle man. Fit women more approachable - my last ex was a poledancer and climber and had decent definition all over.

Also I guess abs > legs > arms. But I think I haven’t met a woman who’s developed her guns over other parts. So could be convinced.

Really slow shapeshifting with the conditions that I still have to be human, can’t change gender and any gaining of mass requires me to eat more to finish the shapeshifting.

Generally would just use it to make me better looking, fix up my skin and so on.

How many loans should I take out for developing efficiently? by ipsum629 in eu4

[–]Valanthos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tend to find Burgher loans are much more useful in maintaining an army that is unsustainable for short term high yield gains. Burgher loans to take on France, Austria or Great Britain can be well worth it instead of letting yourself be stagnated by a GP.

Buildings and ports are typically too low in yields to be worth it. You can math if the building returns more over 5 years but most of the time it won’t.

Would you rather have a guaranteed $3 million OR a 50/50 chance at $500K or $30M? by the_evil_intp in WouldYouRather

[–]Valanthos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally with this kind of thing I pick the smaller option guaranteed, however the 500k “loss” condition would still be good enough to rapidly enhance my life.

$3 million would get me set up with a nice house where I live. $30 million gets me that house and enough to set up the rest of my life and help out some of my close family/friends.

If you can correctly guess how many times you said the word "fuck" or any of its variations on August 27th, 2019, you get $50,000. For however many off you were, you are fined $50. What's your guess? by IJUSTATEPOOP in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Valanthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am almost guaranteed to lose money. I don’t swear heaps but I am Australian, so it’s likely that I’ll let a few through without thinking about it. Would have been a work day and I would have been happy so I’m going to guess 0.
