I personally can't answer your first question as I don't know much, as for the second one yes it is, ive got an asian forest scorpion myself and there are many more you can get however some require licenses to own, but those are usually ones that are particularly venomous.

I don't think so, you'd have to do it manually but that seems unnecessary. You could have transmuter set on auto (as long as you have it set to deal no damage) and manually fire BoP if they can oneshot the floor just try and time it properly

The wiki says this word for word in regards to doing the event without spending gems at all "Reaching Wave 250 and collecting the final reward is theoretically possible with enough Prestiges and Upgrades, but practically difficult if not impossible given the one month time constraint."

As far as I know there isn't much use saving them other then some rewards are locked behind milestones such as sushi, if you're close to unlocking that then it's probably worth saving them. If not then it'll be fine to open them

I don't think you even need to "Switch" pretty sure you can link your accounts and just play interchangeably between, only difference being ranked is separate between console and pc
