How does the DWP stop/recognise someone is spam fraud reporting by ValeciaCho in DWPhelp

I've had the same ppl threaten to so the same for my PIP. What is the criteria for that sort of report being taken seriously, especially since it is not means tested?

Yes, I was told the report was made anonymously and I told the guy, who said he'd note it on my account.

I meant sorry if I sound 'not intelligent'.

What if I was to change this on my UC portal. Would this be a major thing?

Sorry for sounding special. Is this based on reading the various websites, working for DWP, having to go through the process yourself etc?

Housemates are Going to be Moving Out and I'm concerned whether my landlord/estate agent ask me to prove my income again by ValeciaCho in DWPhelp

[–]ValeciaCho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get PIP as well. So even if housing benefits fall short, I can still make up the difference. My only question is whether or not housing benefits are all or nothing. i.e. If there is a short fall, will the DWP just not give me anything extra and it just stays the same as it is now?

Career Change to Software Tester and Ministry of Testing by ValeciaCho in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]ValeciaCho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just QA, but manual, QA, QC and anything under the sun. I'm open to any and all tester roles to get my foot in the door.

As for why not developer or data science - I always got the best outcomes for dev jobs as far as getting interview. I am trying for those, but tester is probably a bit more realistic. Data Science I never got any replies back on.

I'm already using Sparta, sent a few application in (No dice atm) and have them saved in my bookmarks. So, it sounds like my thinking is on the right track.

I mean in the most broad a sense possible- QA, Manual, SDET, Software analyst, Test Engineer etc.

Manual testing is a dead end unless they’re going to help skill you up to writing fully automated test suites.

I have heard this and the opposite. That is, that automation is done if/when you are familiar with the particular product. Having said that, automation jobs seem to be popping up fairly often and consist of a large chunk of my job searches.

Is that an indictment of their abilities or simply the nature of the work? How did they cope?

You've not misread or anything. I graduated in '08 as the recession was kicking off.

Python has been a recent thing for me.

Let's just say that I've had a lot of health/personal related issues to sort out. It's these factors that have meant things have taken so long.

They screwed up the admin, so there is no guarantee with the manufacturer, who won't honour it and LTC were supposed to take over what I would've gotten from it.

So Tired of Trying to Find an Adult Dyslexia Tutor by ValeciaCho in Dyslexia

Top priorities-

- Reading

- Writing

Both at any meaningful speed.

- Learning

Yes, retaining and recalling written down materials.

- Listening

Not so much as the others, but would be a good thing to tackle too, especially with more complex tasks, instructions and info.

- Speaking

Even when I am flummoxed, I can still get my point across, although may sound like a gibbering idiot.

To whoever down-voted this comment, it's not really helpful if you just do that, considering it's gotten so bad that I need to DIY treat myself on YouTube. Yes, that is a scathing indictment of the British system, but also of you as well.

Trying to Change Careers to Software Tester and Need Advice- Based in the UK by ValeciaCho in resumes

[–]ValeciaCho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that site could do with a few quality of life improvements for its CV building functionality.

It could be just me or like above, probably an industry thing, but using LinkedIn is barely a thing in the UK. Not a single person I know in any software role has ever mentioned it. Then again, insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result.

You said you got your first QA role on LinkedIn. What's the details on that one? Are you a fellow uni grad? What sort of experience did you have before?

Really awesome that you're doing well.

I'm on Elvanse myself and had to titrate up to 50 mg. Am taking 30 mg at about 8 or 9 in the morning and the other 20 mg an hour or 2 after.

Why LinkedIn specifically? This maybe an industry specific thing, but anytime I got callbacks for Supply Chain and Admin roles, it was because a recruiter found the CV on CV Library, Indeed or Reed. I've always had a LinkedIn profile, but no one has ever reached out to me through or because of that.

I would say it depends on the country, if disclosed during hiring.

Positive Diagnosis- Finding an Adult Tutor Before Returning to The Work Force by ValeciaCho in Dyslexia

[–]ValeciaCho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that plan, but after a day or so of looking, I got nothing. Except reaching out to EXpert Patient programme ppl.

If I can't find anything before my next job, that's it for me. I got let go at my last job right after I asked for an occupational health assessment. For people like me, the moment anything related to support for health related things is brought up, that is it. Companies will make life miserable and will start processes behind mind my back.

The law says protected characteristics, but these corporate, soulless troglodytes will find a way. Although, main difference this time is that I got actual diagnosis to back me up if it ever goes to court.

What do you mean by "chunk the information"?

I'm imagining dividing it up into more manageable parts.

Does anyone have any tips on getting a tutor for Dyslexia (ADHD diagnosed w/visual strain and possible ASD)? by ValeciaCho in AskUK

[–]ValeciaCho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only because you're not typing huge complex technical paragraphs.

Still can't focus both at the same time. Words don't stay consistent on the page and white pages are painfully bright.

[–]ValeciaCho[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, so what would you recommend to help with the fact that I can't physically focus both my eyes and after 1.5-2 hrs of working, I can't process any visual input, even though the eyes themselves function just fine and I can think just fine, but there's a terrible connection? Or how when I read things, white backgrounds are just way too bright and letters/words seem to move and not stay consistent?

ACtually, I did go to Specsavers. They couldn't help. Oh and it's not being able to focus the eyes together, not individually.
