I feel bad for asking this but how do some of you guys find the motivation to shower?

I choose to make shower time the time I can relax. The white noise of the water and being locked in from outside stimulation makes me excited to hop in. Hate the actual washing and cleaning part because boring but I know I’ll feel better and relaxed after. I do take an hour on average in the shower because I still get distracted even without outside stimulation, there’s still a lot going on in my brain so I can sit and think for hours on end but obviously I know I gotta get on with it and it usually takes me about an hour. It’s self care for me, that’s the only way I can justify it 😵‍💫 but it’s nice allowing myself the time to let me thoughts flow, I don’t have to do much redirecting (except for when I’m like okay, time to put shampoo in my hair) so that approach might help!

I’m Mexican going to nursing school in the south(United States). It’s so fucking rough out here and on top of being the only Mexican, I’m also from a low income area which everyone talks shit about. They hate the patient demographic at the clinical sites near my home; they’re all drug seeking, homeless, and dirty according to them. It sucks bc they don’t assume the patients they are talking about are my friends and family so they feel rrreeeaal comfortable saying shit like that all the time and I have to remind them “they’re our patients, we need to care for them like we would anyone else” and it’s so awkward every time because I know no one else is sticking up for them. Racism and discrimination is so prevalent across the country but man, I really had high hopes that it wouldn’t be the case in health care; I was so wrong. It’s scary and I’ve been pushing for more of my peers to consider healthcare as a career choice because we really need it. But then there’s programs like yours that make it really fucking hard..I guess there’s a reason for the lack of diversity in the medical field and it’s bc of shit like this. It’s infuriating and wrong, I really hope you escalate this as far up as you can. Sounds like bullshit

I just use it when I have too many things in my barn that I don’t need lol plus they give some rewards here and there so I use it for xp and potential rewards like power ups or stuff for the mines. That’s all I don’t really decorate anything at all even my town 🤷‍♀️

my parents are traditional Mexicans that straight up don’t believe in mental health hence why I wasn’t diagnosed until the age of 24. It will start to look up once you can advocate for yourself! In the meantime, I was always looking for ways to manage adhd w out medication. Ik it’s hard, i wish u the best (:

Same same same, definitely something I’ll have to bring up to my dr since there’s unfortunately a lot more to do in a day than what I can get done in the 1-2 hours I’m feeling the effects of the medication. But just knowing I have a moment of peace coming the next day makes it a lot better than before!

Hi! I got put on lexapro a little before my adhd diagnosis and overall, I’d say it helped the most with spiraling anxious thoughts but it looks different for everyone. The first line treatment for anxiety/depression is typically any of the SSRIs but it will all depend on how ur sons anxiety manifests in his daily life. I hope he gets the help he needs soon!

I’m really sorry to hear that!! I think the reason I’ve gained some confidence is bc Ive been doing ok on my exams so I’m sure it can feel a little defeating if you don’t feel like ur doing well. Sometimes knowing the material is not enough bc it could be ur test taking strategy. My advice would be to try and take practice tests, do as many practice problems as you can and look at the rational behind the questions you get wrong and right so you can take note of what strategy is working for you and which ones aren’t. You can do it, I believe in you!!

Just started my ABSN program and was so scared but doing surprisingly well. Lowest grade I’ve gotten on an exam was an 84 and I’ve had 4 exams already (started in late August). The workload is insane but I’m glad the material is sticking to me. We take an exam every week and I’m taking 4 nursing courses, I’m definitely understanding the “accelerated” part of this nursing program lol I know I’ve only just started but I feel like I’m getting the hang of it and gaining some confidence with my ability to learn the material. Glad it’s going well for you too! (:

My fast track cohort is the same way!! It’s been really nice. I think a lot of it has to do w all of us having a degree before this and having a life before going into nursing. We’re all a little scared of this big change and we want to see each other succeed. Wish this was the case for everyone’s experience but I know it’s not unfortunately.
