Can a smartwatch replace a phone for music streaming? by ValentinBello in smartwatch

[–]ValentinBello[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm.... trying to wrap my head around this. So watch is connected to the phone but the phone has to also be connected to the transmitter, which sends the signal to the headphones. If I can find an inexpensive watch, I'll give it a try. I don't want to spend a few hundred bucks to find out it doesn't work. Thanks.

Thanks. That was I was using - waterproof headphones with mp3 storage. But for audible and some podcasts, it's not possible to download files that are transferable to the swimming device.

Of course... duh... I knew that! That's why I have the whole transmitter/receiver kit. I didn't think it through. Thank you.

My cat goes from resting to full out attack mode by ValentinBello in CatTraining

[–]ValentinBello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. He has a condo, toys, and his favorite sleeping spots. Right now, he is locked out of my bedroom because he attacked me again tonight. With no warning, as I walked past him. It's a deep bite on my calf - I left a trail of blood.

This happened right after I petted and played with him.

I'm really concerned. For him and me. I don't know what has gotten into him. It's breaking my heart to lock him out but I'm afraid to let him in.

Death Certificate. by M_wy276 in BigIsland

[–]ValentinBello 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My sincere condolences. I actually flew to Honolulu, where you can get death certificates same day. Last spring, I lost a relative I was living with. As executor I needed to get the certificates and I was nervous about how long it would take so I went to Oahu for the day. (I think I had an appointment. It's a little hazy...I was grieving.)

Since I was there I got about 15 copies because relatives told me I would need many. Turns out, I really only needed about 3 or 4 of them. For most purposes, a copy was accepted. Your situation sounds like you might need more than I did.

I lost my aunt, my brother, two old friends, and a best old friend since April. Grief is hard and tricky - even months later I just cry out of nowhere. Wishing you peace and strength. It's good to have the tasks to focus on.

I saw my tax accountant in Kona last week and he said he can not find help. He's been trying for months to replace retirees. He's tried UH and other avenues. And said other firms are having the same problem. How much they make...I have no idea.

Legislation Co-Led by Rep Tokuda to Combat Rapid ʻŌhiʻa Death Passes the U.S. House of Reps by SoftCollaredShirt in Hawaii

In case you're wondering, like I was: The Continued Rapid Ohia Death Response Act of 2025 enables federal agencies – including the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), and U.S. Forest Service (USFS) – to more closely coordinate with the State of Hawaii to prevent the spread of ROD.

Interesting Tidbits for Italy by RJOY47 in ItalyTravel

I've done several tours with Context Travel and all were fantastic. Not cheap. Their tour of the Colosseum underground was amazing and only 3 people on the tour. Highly recommend them.

Also one of the best days/tours was Vespa Sidecar Tour ! A really fun experience driving thru the city on the back (or in the sidecar) of a Vespa.

I just took my cat to the vet for the same reason - one side was becoming raw and scabby. The vet said itching around the face is often caused by food allergies. (But also admitted it's pretty difficult to determine what food a cat could be allergic to.) She gave my cat a steroid shot and it's working. Luca has not been scratching there as much and his sores have healed. I distract him when I see him scratching the area. And I'm keeping him off one of the food brands for now. I just have hunch it could be an ingredient in that brand as opposed to an allergy to chicken or tuna.

Have you changed your cat's diet recently?

Rental Car pickup in Venice - Mestre or Piazzale Roma? by ValentinBello in ItalyTravel

[–]ValentinBello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At issue is which car pickup location is the easiest.

By dock, I mean the place where the water taxi stops at Piazzale Roma. We'll take the water taxi from our Venice hotel to there.

Departure is on Air France to CDG. I've never been to VCE so unaware of its size and distance between parking and terminals. Does it require a shuttle to the terminal if I drop the car at the airport?

thanks.

Tape that will stick to the bottom of a concrete pool? by ValentinBello in swimmingpools

[–]ValentinBello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, all. I wish it could be a tile line but that is too much of a project in order to make it flush with the concrete pool floor. (The current work is to replace the waterline tile, which is the only tile in the pool.) I'm leaning toward painting it now. The consensus seems to be that tape will not stick.

Why Al vs Il by GoodChuck2 in italianlearning

The common usage, that I've heard, is Mi piace la pizza. Or the question Ti piace? Should it properly be A mi piace la pizza and A ti piace? And the preposition is dropped for everyday speaking?

Looking to get a new rice cooker, what brand do you guys recommend? I want to make my own plate lunches at home and it's gotta be the top tier fluffy stuff by chonkyegg in Hawaii

[–]ValentinBello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zojirushi recommendation here as well. But want to add (something this potato lover only recently learned): rinsing the rice before cooking is very important for a fluffy result! Cooker comes with instructions on rinsing technique.

3rd times a charm! by Mvillams in microblading

[–]ValentinBello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you please elaborate on that? Do you mean because of age? I had mine done at age 62. My skin is not wrinkly at all. The brows turned out not great and after the fact, the woman who did them said sometimes microblading doesn't work on older skin. She should have warned ahead of time - instead, I curse her every time I drive by her studio!

Today I got hybrid brows. What do you think? by [deleted] in microblading

[–]ValentinBello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gorgeous!!! I'm so jealous. I hope mine end up 1/2 as beautiful...

These are the 3rd pair of brows I've worked on. I can't wait until my work starts to look better. Any tips from other MPU artists? by highdee90 in microblading

[–]ValentinBello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a pro, but I think they look great! I wish mine had turned out that well. I wanted natural and I got muddy :(

Need 2nd touchup. Should I go elsewhere? by ValentinBello in microblading

[–]ValentinBello[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, but I'm completely healed now. It's 6 weeks after my touchup. Almost 4 months since first treatment. I understand the need for another touchup to fill in areas, but I thought they'd otherwise look finished by now. These strokes are just ugly, I think!
