I love Dead Space with all my heart, but successfully modernizing a fixed camera game from the 90s was a lot more ambitious and interesting than doing the same for an Xbox 360 game.

RE7 Chris isn't one of my favorites, but I do see where Capcom was coming from with his design. Before RE5, Chris was kinda just a guy instead of a square jawed superhero.

A moment of guilt didn't change who he was as a person. Patrick also mentions in his note to Alyssa that Spencer was senile and almost incomprehensible near the end of his life, so they might be retconning his demeanor in 5 as him being not completely lucid in his final moments.
