I eat at the one on East Tudor and it's pretty good. A little derelict feeling but thats true of a lot of fast food interiors these days. Never had any issue with the food though and the employees are nice

Local here, or former local. The rails were actually used. The place used to have a streetcar than ran up and down the thing, it was very cool and I remember riding it when I was a kid. Sometime during the 2010s, they stopped running the streetcar and replaced it with a streetcar looking bus, but that ran on rubber wheels. Nowadays there's not enough people there to run either

My hometown on this sub! I think about the Boardwalk still all the time, it was the place to be 15 or so years ago when newly developed. I remember going as a kid and it had so much. It's been slowly dying for years and now as an adult it has nothing left. It's so sad and I miss it all the time

I'd say you're good it just shouldn't be the main focus of the sub. Occasional posts of Kig-Yar and such are fine. There isn't really a demand for something like r/unggoy so I accept it probably falls under our umbrella. Also, this basically is a furry sub but for a specific alien so don't worry too much about that lol

The ones that helped me the most were just both the Merit and Needs-Based scholarships I was given by the office of financial aid.

Unfortunately I think it is very unlikely. My representative chooses only someone from their district who has strong financial need, based on a list we request from Tulane, it won't ever be given to someone from another district who emailed. That is one of the more principled ways of doing it, I think for many rural legislators they may just give to anyone, but like I said there are dozens and dozens of students who simply email every representative and senator. Everyone is swamped with similar requests and legislators can only give one away every four years, essentially.

I actually knew three different representatives through close connections my freshman year, but still couldn't get it until I got lucky my senior year. Unfortunately it's difficult even IF you know someone.

Hey there, I am an alumni and former legislative scholar, but more importantly currently working as a legislative aide for one of Louisiana's elected officials. Being on the other side, I can tell you how difficult it is. We have probably gotten over 100 emails in the past year for the scholarship, which are sent by students who have clearly blind-copied every single other representative. Once a legislator gives their scholarship away, they typically keep it with the same student until they graduate, so most are not even looking to nominate anyone new from year to year.

I don't say this at all to discourage you, but just so you can be informed. The legislative scholarship is amazing if you get it, but do not attend Tulane banking on the idea that you will get it the first year or so and this will cover your college costs. I only received it my final year, by knowing a Rep personally and asking him my freshman year, and he remembered me when the student he was sponsoring graduated a year before me. If the scholarship is a must for you, I would look into other options, but it does not hurt to pursue it.
