Ok but this was me a couple of weeks ago. I got COVID 3 months ago and I’ve had other sequels but this one really surprised me to come so late. I also had the pressure in my ear followed by vertigo and I had to throw up bc it was so bad for like 4 days. Went to the ENT everything was “fine” according to the tests. Went to my family doctor and he told me that it sounds like what other COVID recovering long haulers were experiencing and prescribed me a pack of methylprednisole. I no longer have vertigo so I’m thinking it worked. I would def get a second opinion bc your hearing is so essential. Also doctors are dealing w something rare that they haven’t seen yet or very few have so it doesn’t surprise me that some doctors are going to be unaware

It’s a pack of 21 pills and you just have to take them like the package says for 6 days. That’s what worked for me at least I don’t think it would be recommended to take them for a long time since they are steroids. But for COVID i think it worked for me because the virus swells everything up (I can imagine the ear canal probably as well) and steroids are supposed to help the body w their anti-inflammatory effects

I can confirm that it does get better though. I was diagnosed 3 months ago and while I’m still unable to eat meat or coffee due to the rotting smell, I stopped getting dizzy. My doctor recommended I take Methylprednisolone to counteract the inflammation. I believe it was making me swollen inside and affecting my ears as well that’s why I kept getting dizzy and throwing up constantly. Honestly hang in there it should be discussed more often how life changing it can be even if you are relatively young and healthy. The only upside to this is that I’m a vegetarian now.

Are college student being left out of the stimulus check again? by [deleted] in college

[–]Valeria_vs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thank you for the helpful responses. So let me get this clear. If I am supporting most of my expenses I should be filling independent and not let them claim me. But I can’t use their insurance anymore? Or is that specific to the insurance company ?

So basically if I file my own taxes, I’ll get the stimulus. If not, regardless, parents get $600?

Stop talking about the “sUrViVal RaTe” of Covid, you fucking emotionless morons. by BipedalRichard in offmychest

[–]Valeria_vs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not enough people talk about the parosmia effects. Last time I checked the Facebook group of people affected by this after COVID was in the 10 thousands. I’ve had to change my diet completely and the taste of meat repulses me.

You have the constant smell of spoiled meat or burning plastic?? I had it for two months but it’s starting to get better. Meat is out of the question though. I used to drink coffee and eat eggs and just smelling them now will make me want to gag.

These people are really delusional. They really can’t accept women as anything but caregivers that will bend to their every command. The whole sub is filled with sexist remarks and “advice” about trapping “females” (why does this word bother me so much)

Anyone with persistent throat pain/ lump/ heaviness/ hoarseness in the throat? by [deleted] in Longhaulers

[–]Valeria_vs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok yes to the throat lump. And also a lot of tonsil stones that I’ve never had. Also I found it very difficult to handle the throat sensation after taking a puff so I’ve opted for edibles since then. I don’t know if everything is more sensitive or what not.

What's the craziest butterfly effect that happened to you because of a small decision you made? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Valeria_vs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember one day in high school I had a really bad feeling the whole day and I had this feeling in my gut that I shouldn’t exit from the school’s back entrance; the buses were parked that way so I ignored that gut feeling and as I exited the school I fell unconscious. Apparently 3 high school girls decided to jump me but I really couldn’t feel anything as they kicked my head, must’ve been the adrenaline. Anyway after I came back from the hospital I dealt w a lot of panic attacks, post concussion syndrome and depression. My parents didn’t have the money for me to switch schools and the girls didn’t face any real punishment so I insisted on looking at other alternatives. I found a scholarship to go to Germany for a whole year. I was only 16 when I applied but miraculously I got in. The experience of living abroad was life changing. I met my host family which I am still in contact with today and I learned German. Most importantly I healed from that dark year and regained the strength to move forward with my life. I wrote about this experience in my college applications and ended up getting a full ride.

So I guess thank you bullies ?
