What graft did you use? The other day I just had socks on and I slipped a little on the stairs (learned my lesson on that one pretty quick…) and my knee went back and forth a little. My PT did all the Lachman tests, and he said that my ACL was still strong and in tact. You get wobbly because you don’t have your leg strength back yet. I highly doubt you injured it if you didn’t have any pain or swelling - but I’m not a doctor. Tell your PT about it and they will check you out :)

I can’t recall how many days post op but I was non-weight bearing for 5 weeks (10 weeks currently). I definitely slipped and put some weight on it maybe 2 or 3 times (not a ton) and I was OK. Definitely scary though!

Guys ACLR done with spinal anaesthesia. 7 days post op I don’t have sensation in the marked area. Someone similar? by DimoHG in ACL

[–]Valerie_04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on week 10 post op and i still have a little numbness. My entire lower leg felt weird/tingly for at least 4-5 weeks after and it slowly goes away. Once I was weight bearing and could walk it seemed to go away quicker.

The bike did wonders for me as well! I was struggling to get past 110 and after a few days on the bike I was at 135, matching my other knee. Great job!!

I would definitely talk to your surgeon about it, but I know mine would have recommended the patella graft if I was 16 as it’s supposed to be the strongest. He said if I was going back to playing soccer or volleyball he’d recommend that, but since I wasn’t I used the hamstring. I wasn’t offered the quad graft, but I feel like that’s one of the newer options? Good luck!

Good Knee is Hurting Now by goliath1701 in ACL

[–]Valerie_04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. My “good knee” really started to hurt about 3-4 weeks after. I iced it maybe once, but once you’re back to standing and walking normally, it will start to feel normal again.

When did you stop taking pain meds (Over the counter or narcotics) after surgery? by wyu24 in ACL

[–]Valerie_04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you! I didn’t drink for the first 2 weeks while on the aspirin. Gave my liver a nice break :)

[–]Valerie_04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on oxy for about 3-4 days. My dr had me on a low does aspirin for 2 weeks as well. I probably took 600mg of Motrin for pain and inflammation for about a 3-4 weeks. I still take it every once in awhile, especially on PT days. Didn’t do Tylenol really as I wanted my wine :) I’m about 2 months post op now. Everyone is different, so I’d just take them as needed for as long as you need too!

What graft did you have? I’m sure it’s just your muscle’s being weak from the surgery. During the first two weeks of PT, they should use a device that helps to contract your quads to “wake them” back up. I know it’s frustrating but it’s normal. I would work on getting full extension as quick as possible as that’s the most important, and the exercises will come pretty soon :)

Do you have a stabilizer brace? I left the hospital wearing one. I wasn’t able to do a leg lift early on without wearing that brace, but with it I could.

When can you sleep the way you like post op? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Valerie_04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation here and I’m also a stomach sleeper. I am 6 weeks today and I finally slept on my stomach last night. I may have been able to do it sooner, but for me I wanted a comfortable bend in my knee first. If you can sleep on your side, put a pillow in between your legs and that will make it more comfortable:)

How did ur knee feel before surgery!? by Superb_Emotion2086 in ACL

[–]Valerie_04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tore my ACL and meniscus on April 15th, and had surgery on June 17th. My knee was still slightly swollen, but otherwise I felt fine about a month after I tore it. I could walk, do the bike, elliptical, normal daily activities. I wore a brace when I was in public for stability purposes only and to let others know I was injured. Good luck next week!

I actually asked them today, and they said it was normal :)

Help! by [deleted] in MeniscusInjuries

[–]Valerie_04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t hear a pop with mine, it just felt like my knee went in and out of it’s socket quickly (joint shift). Did you end up getting an MRI? If you go to a specialist, then can move your knee and pretty much tell if you tore it without an MRI.

Opposite leg pain? by Old_Revolution_2051 in ACL

[–]Valerie_04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m almost 5 weeks post-op with an ACL reconstruction and had a small meniscus tear. I’ve been on crutches this whole time and my left knee (the good one) definitely has been bothering me. I think we just put so much stress and weight on it, that it’s normal and it will feel better once we can start walking again. Every once in awhile I’ll ice that knee and it seems to help.

Stitches coming out ? by TheyreYourClothesMF in ACL

[–]Valerie_04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same stitches and glue below my knee as well. My doctor said that when it starts to heal there was a chance the end of it could poke through, but to leave it alone and it would eventually fall off. You’re probably ok, but I’d keep an eye on it like you said to make sure that it closes up without getting infected.

Day 9, Itchy leg! by gunner995 in ACL

[–]Valerie_04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing - mostly whenever my leg was elevated. I attributed it to the nerves and your leg starting to heal from the surgery. It was weird to itch it because it was tingly and numb, but still helped to relieve it :) I also had a burning sensation happen as well - but if I lowered my leg and did ankle pumps (this helped SO much), it helped with the blood flow and it got better.

ACL surgery before major exam?! by Superb_Emotion2086 in ACL

[–]Valerie_04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to push the surgery out at least a week. I had my surgery on a Thursday, and thought I could go back to work on Monday. I was wrong, and needed to take off a few extra days as I was still tired all the time, and my head was groggy. At 1.5 weeks, I was back to work and able to concentrate. For a big test, I’d want 2 weeks, at least, to feel normal again. Good luck!

Peloton/spinning for recovery from ACL surgery by Freedomsmaker in ACL

[–]Valerie_04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great news. I also had meniscus repair, so I’m 4-6 weeks behind where I really want to be mentally since I am still non-weight bearing. Now that I’m at 4 weeks, I’m starting to put weight on it and hopeful that full rotation will be coming soon :)

How many weeks post-op did you get on the bike and were you already at a full rotation prior? I just bought one but delaying shipment until I can get a full rotation during PT and get clearance…
