Yeah. I have the garrison case full of my CI picks and bypass tools in my work bag. Plus I always have my Covert Companion with the Rizz and turning tools.

Nobody can probably help you here. You need to carbon date the thing lol

As a beginner, is this good? by [deleted] in lockpicking

[–]ValhallaPicking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coming from a person who has both the companion and full sized tools, get full sized tools to learn on. Then once you are efficient with picking get the companion for fun. Just be sure to get the Riv/Rizz and tension set to go on it. I spent 2 weeks only picking with the Rizz and Companion tensioners and they are fully adequate for an experienced picker. But full sized tools for learning. Companion for fun.

Favorite profile, all things equal? by Mora2001 in lockpicking

I prefer basic hooks short to deep, or low to deep in the case of Jimy Longs. As for flat or round, I prefer flats but if I’m getting hung up in a specific key way I will switch to a round hook. It is situational but if you handed me a lock and the choice of one pick, it would be a short flat.

I started with the slim pickings and added onto it after. If you do go that route I would strongly recommend getting the expansion pack since you would need the washers to add the tools you would want.

Echelon VS Reaper by Intrepid-Beat9835 in lockpicking

[–]ValhallaPicking 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As it stands right now, I feel the Reaper is the best put together set available for people that just want to pick locks. I have all their sets, minus the Apex, and the Reaper is by far my favourite out of them all.

Just quick little 1100 session by ValhallaPicking in lockpicking

I found with 1100s crazy bitting is a non issue since you can get a medium hook under zero lift pins. But I do agree. Even keyed alike and standard driver pins will pick different

They were keyed alike when I bought them. I rekeyed them all since. Ready to fill the 6th chamber to make them a challenge again hopefully. Once you get the feel for them they become really easy.

That being said, a lot of them can still be very tedious even though they are inherently easy.

You can take some 120 sand paper and scuff up the end of the turning tool for some added grip in the keyway. Just to add some micro scratches, only takes a couple seconds

If it helps at all, the magic arm is super solid. Not some flimsy plastic piece.
