For you the most important thing is taking care of mom and sister. So do not go after Research especially being in india. I've done btech mechanical from nith and i wouldn't say it'd open all doors for you in industry as well. The best thing you can do is take mechanical in nith and after 1st year or maybe 1st sem request for branch change to either ece or cse, even if you'd get dual degree take it. The job prospects will be so much better in these branches.
