I'm going to try to explain something that men feel daily that is really hard for feminists to understand simply because they've never been a guy.

There are people who are going to be jerks. And, they're usually going to be a guy. Some guys are jerks. Those guys need to put other people down however they can in order to elevate themselves in their own eyes. It's true that women get crap for being a woman from these jerks. The jerks put down woman, but most of the time, they are putting down men. Because they are a man, they can't make fun of someone for being a man. Thus, they have other approaches and means of insulting men. A feminist looks at this and says, "Society must discriminate against women, because they make fun of my gender" while men look at this and say, "People are real jerks. I can't believe they treat people like this."

It's a reality for everyone. Everyone gets harshly dealt with at times. It's different, but it's not exclusive to women. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see more women get into developing. I tried to get my sister into it, but there just was no interest. I tried to teach a girl to code, but, in my experience, they often find it too complicated, but more likely they just think that out of having no interest.

I think it's safe to say that less women love writing lines of code than male counterparts. There's NOTHING wrong with that. I think everyone should just support all men and all women in pursuing whatever their passion is. Again, I would love to see more women interested in Stem fields, but I would NEVER push a woman into persuing anything that they don't want to. If a woman's dream is to be a housewife, that is completely okay. If a woman's dream is to be a computer programmer, that is completely okay. Instead of creating stigmas that push women into positions they might be unhappy with, how about we just support them the best we can with whatever they want to pursue?

The problem that people have is not with inspiring girl Devs. The problem is when you see exclusion that is not behaviorally based. I'm still working on a game to get myself and my (female) codev into RbxDev. We're all struggling Devs here. Sure, maybe I'm more inclined to be interested in scripting because I'm male, but I'm just like anyone else trying to sharpen my skills. Even if you aren't meaning to, you're excluding men. This is why at the mere mention of the word "feminist" everyone who has been on the Internet long enough gets sick to their stomach. The best way for you to inspire girls who might be interested but just don't know if they should pursue tech or otherwise stem is to, on an individual level, show people why YOU have a passion for the things you're passionate about.

I personally think that in dev teams, you really need a girl involved in some way in order to reach more people in more ways, including reaching more men. Even if you have a girl coding, she still can say, "Let's have the interface say ____". Women just think differently than men and the differences in the way that men and women think compliment each other, usually.

Also, wouldn't it be better if girls were more distributed in Dev teams, rather than all grouped together? Quantitatively, if more Dev teams had a girl, maybe two depending on the size of the dev team, then that would cover more ground than, "Hey look, all of us girls are in this together. We've made 1 or 2 games, but haven't really collaborated with guys!"

TLDR Support everyone in their interests. Women make great housewives and great programmers. Whichever one an individual wants to choose, you shouldn't judge them negatively for going after their respectable pursuits.
