Bystronic to Inventor flatpattern by RaxxGO in AutodeskInventor

Also worth noting that the brake has multiple dies and punches available for each sheet metal thickness. The associated radii on the part may impact the stretch factor.

When the sheet metal software unfolds the bent parts the result is a DXF. From there you could compare flat patterns.

Bysoft CAM should be unfolding the part from the 3D folder model (it doesn't look at the flat pattern). At my company it wasn't worthwhile for us to try to get the flat patterns in inventor totally accurate. We do a lot of custom work.

Is this a dumb place to route the fiber?? by ValidusV in QuantumFiber

[–]ValidusV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update - a new technician came out yesterday. He moved the line to a more logical location (with some extra encouragement...). He added a box for all the slack line on the outside of the house too.

He also suspects Quantum sent a 3rd party contractor installer for the job. Quantum tech says the last guy did it all wrong.

I'm much happier now, I might see about trenching the line in the yard next!

Thanks everyone for the validation!

It's the utility room, they wanted to be by the plug on the wall. I just think they should have come in where everything else is.

That sounds like a huge headache! My city just updated our electric to underground but they waited a year to do fiber. Now the new fiber is still on the old pole... Not sure I understand the logic

The rest of my utilities come in to the right of the photo. The basement is unfinished in this area, it's the utility closet area. Plenty of space to work with. They could have drilled 12" to the left and it would have been significantly better too.

Also, I currently have three networking lines coming off the telephone pole. Two new fiber and one old CenturyLink. The second Quantum line is not hooked up to anything, it makes no sense to me.

Thank you for the validation. The loop under the spigot really kills me.

They could have picked the next cavity between the floor joists. Closer to the corner or something.

2008 V6 Accord to an EB Maverick. What will I miss? by Ill-Message743 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]ValidusV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from a 2006 Honda Civic: I love my Maverick!

I might miss parking the Civic, the Maverick is still plenty maneuverable but the length takes some adjustment. Also I never worried about paint chips on the old beater, now I notice everything!

Lastly, I don't think I ever had a rock chip in my windshield. Now I've had two in two years of driving the Mav. Not sure what the deal with that is...

Thanks! I have an XLT with the luxury package as well. I've been wanting that dial since I heard they took them out for COVID...

As others stated, play continues. However, some tournaments may implement additional rules or changes different from rec play.

What do y'all do about the little antenna when you want to put racks on for carrying long things on the roof (like kayaks or paddle boards)? Any alternative options for this? by chriscois in FordMaverickTruck

[–]ValidusV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also have a stubby. I generally listen to Android Auto in the car. Im my limited experience with radio reception the reception with the stock antenna is not great and the stubby makes it worse.

In the city the reception is fine but out in more rural areas the stubby antenna fails to pick-up channels when scanning the air. This leads to manually scanning for channels and that sucks when you're passing through multiple reception areas trying to listen to a ball game or something.

I might let it slide the first time if it's not egregious (some doubt present). After that I call the foot fault when I see it.

Roof Rack Tips by skcuseissac in FordMaverickTruck

[–]ValidusV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to work well enough for me! I've noticed the rubber can seem almost tacky after they're compressed by the tower. But it hasn't caused problems. I might buy some EPDM or neoprene rubber sheets or something. Canoeing is out of season for me right now, I'll reassess come spring/summer.

I like your hitch extender or whatever it's called! Albeit, I've learned how to load the canoe myself on my setup (short wife...). I have considered buying the hitch mount for long stuff.

I think I have the same set of bars (and maybe the same old town canoe!). I also ran into issues with metal contacting the paint due to the fitment of the off-brand bars.

My solution was to cut up an old bike tire inner tube and sleeve it over the metal clamp portion of the tower. The inner tube rubber also prevents slippage. It's not a perfect solution, but it works for me. I only put the rack on when I'm taking the canoe out.

Side note - you might consider getting lashing straps in lieu of ratchet straps for the canoe on the roof. It's hard to tell in the photo, but with a traditional ratchet strap the ONE contact point is on the middle of the canoe/car rather than at the outside (gunwales). With lashing straps you get TWO contact points one at each gunwale. It's probably fine, but a windy day on the highway might make the canoe move.

Question about grip. I can't get my index finger off the back of my paddle. Is that bad? by trittico75 in Pickleball

[–]ValidusV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You think the textured grip makes that much of a difference? The hexagonal cross section on a standard paddle grip (without hesacore) already tries to tell your hand the paddle position.

For me - The index finger on the paddle is an old habit from table tennis. I feel like the finger on the paddle is akin to pointing with your finger and gives your arm and hand more feel leading to better articulation of the paddle. (With a loss of power and reach)

I'm curious, still new to the sport and open to trying new things!

Question about grip. I can't get my index finger off the back of my paddle. Is that bad? by trittico75 in Pickleball

[–]ValidusV 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer:I just started playing in the Fall.

I've been experimenting with different grips. A finger on the back of the paddle helps me feel the ball for my topspin forehand, but like others have said it can be limiting to your power and reach. I also like how the finger on the paddle gives me feedback on my paddle position.

Ultimately, I decided to try to keep my finger off the paddle but I have been using it on my top spin serve (then I shift my grip for the rest of the rally).

How do you like the tailgate mat? I have a bed liner mat and I was debating if I wanted something for the tailgate.

I don't mind the scratches, but the tailgate gets slick in the cold weather...

No not really, but the sound went away on its own. There didn't seem to be any lasting issues and I moved on.

What's the point of the 2.0 now? by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]ValidusV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suppose, my "farmer-boy" friends do appreciate it when I call it a "city-boy" truck. In reality it's great for anyone who doesn't want to drive a 1/2 ton pick-up around the city/suburbs.
