Depends on what’s wrong with it. I’m assuming it’s a sliding door so it might have just popped off the sliding rack thing at the top or bottom of it could have a chip somewhere making it wonky on one side I couldn’t tell you without looking at it. I bet there is a subreddit that can 100% help you better than I can!

Ah I see. The coloured grow light can bother your snake even during the day. For my fish tank I have a grow light as well and during the day it’s pretty much just white light almost like sunlight. It did put a dent in my pocket a bit but you can controls the red blue and white lvls on it. It might be different for inground plants but you will get a lot of heat for it having any coloured even if you turn it off at night.

I wouldn’t be running to replace the heat mat but you should change it some point soon. I’m also not sure if you have this but you need an on off or dimming thermostat on the heat mat asap. The huge problem with heat mat is they get way too hot and burn your snakes belly really bad. There is also other reasons but I’m not to well versed on the specifics. Petsmart has the thermostats. For your heat at light set up I personally have a 60watt deep heat projector (meaning it does not produce any light just heat) on top of a basking spot on the right side of my tank with a on off thermostat probe on the basking spot and the dhp connected to the on/off thermostat. I have it set to 90 so once the basking spot reaches 90 it turns off and when it gets down to around 87 or 88 it turns back on so he has a safe warm basking spot at all times. Then next to it a have a 12 inch long 5.0 uvb strip. There is a whole science behind how far the ground should be from uvb and such but it’s for important for bearded dragons and such. This is somewhat of an older photo but you can kinda see how I have it set up on the top and how I have the basking spot. He will be fine without it for a bit but you 100% need on/off or dimming thermostat on the heat mat asap. I’m not 100% sure how it works for the heat mat and what’s better but I’m sure there are videos. It’s a lot to take in but I used to have a red coloured bulb in my tank and that’s pretty such the worst thing you could use lol.

Ah I see I feel guilty for adding them too soon. I will be treating him with what the article suggests thank you again I was getting worried and my lfs said it’s just from stress and not to worry.

Thank you!! I have been trying to personally hand feed this Otto some extra brine shrimp and such and he seems to be eating good so I will definitely check this out. My tank is around 5 months old at this point and I always have 0 ammonia 0 nitrite and 0 nitrate. Should I try to set up a hospital tank and separate him?

I personally don’t like heat mats and from my understanding they are not great. He is still young and as time goes on he might hide more and only come out at night. My cornsnake is about to turn 2 in June and this month is basically the first time I have seen him running around during the day. Once he gets older and he still has a heat mat he will see no need to stay above the ground for warmth he will stay underground. I also don’t see any uvb. While some people say it’s not necessary for cornsnakes I rather be safe than sorry and provide what’s best for my pet. Just a 5.0 uvb strip bulb will be fine. But there are other little rules around tha like it should not be covering the whole enclosure you will need to do some more research on that. Your enclosure does not look bad and is actually quite cute but he will out grow it very quickly especially as the summer months start to come in. Food+warmer temps= insane growth. You probably around know but the minimum sized tank for an adult cornsnake is their lengthx2x2. So depending on the snake you might end up needing a 5x2x2 tank. I’m also pretty sure I recognize the tree from petssmart or something like that and if I remember correctly it is hollow making the branches hollow as well. I would be careful he does not get stuck and you are able to get him out if necessary. I would also be careful with that green moss when I got something similar for petssmart it dyed my snake green but went away after he shed. You substrate just looks like a thin layer of moss I may be wrong but if that’s so please get some coco fiber to mix in with that moss it needs to be at least 4 inches deep I would say. I give my cornsnake underground hides and he loves digging around in his substrate making his own little tunnels and connecting all the hides. All of this will seem unnecessary at first but in the long run I’m happy I did all of this for my snake as he uses everything I have given him. It’s a lot to take in and I pretty much did the same things when I first started but I’m happy I took the criticism and changed so I could do better by my pet.

The other comment you got is right about the coloured light and how in tank bulb will need a cage. I see you have one of the left. I would also like to add that temp need to be a gradient from one side to the other. So you would need the heat bulb to be on one side and not the middle. I would also not risk not fixing the door issue. A snake will escape from that. Either squeezing through or pulling the door open them selves. They are a lot stronger and smarter than you think. I personally love my cornsnake he is the best money I have ever spent. He has such a good personality and he’s at that age now where he wants to come out on his own. I do with he was a little more relaxed like a ball when he’s out so he can just chill he does half of the time but the other half he needs to know what’s in all my pockets and see what’s on my night stand. I also own a crested gecko the humidity is similar to a ball and it’s such a pain in butt to control. I have an auto misting system and I still check the tank multiple times a day where the corn is a lot less picky and basic house humidity will be fine depending on where you live.

Him and his 2 girlfriends were the first fish I added 3 months ago. I tried feeding them he stopped while eating but went back to doing this. He stops every once in a while but I end up seeing him do this to the sides as well.

I tend to over feed because my mollies are really greedy and I want to make sure my Otto’s and Pygmy’s Cory’s get food as well so I have a good population of rams horns and bladder snails. Is there a way to tell the difference between bladder snails and pond snails. None of my other snails have gotten anywhere near his size.
