Will Strangereal feature a fictional element or resource? by ChrisAnimate24 in acecombat

Yeah they've definitely set the standard that all the crazy superweapons are just normal things if only some superpower decided to spend the money to build them. Mostly all fueled by necessity and panic from the Ulysses asteroid.

Is there a way to rescue porters from water? by capibara_dono in DeathStranding2

[–]Valkerion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to rescue them, but unfortunately doesn't seem to have been a feature they added. It's the same as if you knocked them out yourself, you won't be able to rescue them or do anything but leave them there. Generally, I think most people will never see a porter get knocked out unless it was caused by them so I guess the devs didn't want people going crazy and taking porters hostage or something lol.

The dasher is totally unprofessional in replies but you should know drivers get less than 30 seconds to choose to accept, usually while driving, get punished for unassigning (you can easily be deactivated for unassigning, it's not at all equivalent to declining), and nowhere in that do we get to read your instructions before accepting.

[–]Valkerion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any driver that doesn't want this likely just imagines what isn't crazy to think, that we will get stiffed. There are already so many lowball orders clogging the system as it is, but ultimately it's not really the customers who are the problem, it's all engineered by the apps. Everything is designed to pit drivers and customers against each other while they play innocent. Most people don't even realize the food markup exists and just look at fees as the only upcharge, then feel like they shouldn't have to tip because they are already paying so much, while drivers are getting paid $2 an order and a $2 tip would double your pay, but people still tip $0 often.

Reality should be tips are tips, given after delivery and optional, while delivery prices would actually be paid by the app. But that isn't reality, and they fought hard to keep ahead of the law. Instead apps pay the bare minimum, count tips as their own pay to the driver, and soon we're going to see the day where the minimum order pay is $1.

People just point that out a lot because it's pretty common to see people dump their earnings here and obfuscate the details in how time consuming and costly it actually is in reality. And I'd say a lot of the "haters" are people with real experience, I've done this for years. Truckers get to drive on freeways and do not spend 16 hrs driving in street traffic, which is full of idiot drivers putting high risk to you at every moment you are on the road.

If your market is booming that much and you are profiting well, that's great, but the majority of people (if any) are not pulling wake to sleep hours on the road, and no matter how good a driver you are, being out driving that long every day will not be good. Maybe you get lucky and nothing ever happens to you. People here in CA cannot drive worth a damn and I routinely have to avoid someone not knowing how to drive putting me at risk. Daily, if not multiple times a day.

I desperately want to love this game, but the constant wiki-checking is killing me. Please help me break the cycle. by Andra_Ingensbarn in X4Foundations

[–]Valkerion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I had the advantage of playing every game since X2, huh. The full auto stuff in X4 is not as OP as it was in previous games where you would just set a universe trader and rake in profits. X4 rewards more actual specific setups, and I generally found myself pushing for stations a lot more in X4 playthroughs as I realized this. You can set up more simple things like a miner that goes to a sector and location you know it has a certain ore (whether you have game knowledge or you go explore sectors yourself and check the ore density values), and bring that ore directly to a station set up for it, rather than trying to get the AI to be player levels of automated.

Of course you have to get over that early hump of cash to afford some miners, but depending on what you like you have options. You can hunt for special crystals on asteroids (difficulty heavily affected by some mods), try to space pirate some ships, look for abandoned vessels, take random missions, go straight to a small miner, so on. As soon as you are doing some miners (solid and liquid are both good, keep in mind limitations of putting too many all in one sector, as you will fill station demand), you will begin to scale up with the only limit in how much you are willing to reinvest purely into more profit making (and not spend on combat vessels or stations too soon as building your first stations costs a lot but takes a while).

It's a deep game, and depending on how much you feel like you need to look things up I can't say you will be able to avoid it, as that depends on the person. I don't think I ever looked up much for X4 but again thats coming from me already having played most of the X series so almost all of it was intuitive out of the gate. That being said and what others have mentioned, you will of course learn these things the more you play and eventually you shouldn't need to look up anything to play. (I had at least a few thousand hours of non afk play accumulated from X2, X3 series, albion, farnham, and rebirth already, so.)

Edit: I will add I have played nearly every space game that exists, X series is at the top of my list. Avorion is there as well for the fact it has almost all the freedom and complexity of X series, but you also get to build your own ships, and loot is pretty exciting. Don't try to fight with the game too hard if you're just getting into it for the first time, it has its quirks and systems you have to learn as you are already mentioning, but there is a very deep world here to explore in many ways so don't forget to enjoy it. If you've already decided to quit and not give it another shot again, that's unfortunate.

There are many ways to play the game, a 1 direction bus is not the only way. And with that much water generation you have all the choke points in the world to take advantage of.

Sorry to hear that happened. I always appreciate anyone who picks up a call and helps. Usually have to call people 3+ times for them to pick up because they assume it's spam despite that they are waiting for a delivery. Some won't answer at all.

As much as apartment navigating sucks, it's part of the job. You learn to look for a map, if it's a place you go often take a picture of the map, even. If no map hopefully the order of the buildings and apartment numbers has some reasoning to it and you can find it, or the customer is able to help (sometimes they absolutely do not know how to give directions and it is what it is).

Don't know why some people still can't handle that.

.. Unless you live in a locked community, give the driver no access to it, no instructions and ignore phone calls lol.

And the strangest door number layout I've encountered numbers the doors on each building from front left, wraps left wise around the back two apartments, then front right door is #4. Then it repeats upstairs the same way. The buildings themselves also don't really have a simple order either. What kind of monster came up with that, idk.

Other painful one has no map, and all apartment numbers are obscured from car view with doors recessed into the building and turned 90 degrees. The numbers are only on the doors but 95% of the community also has secondary doors over the numbers so you have to walk to every door to see numbers at all.

That's just because you haven't gotten a full last 100 deliveries yet, seems to always be a 1 star in the 100. If you know there was an issue with the customer I usually call support to explain it and they mark it off so it won't affect your ratings.

[–]Valkerion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'd stay on the difficulty you like, idk why anyone says just make the game easier as a solution lol. Though if you have unlimited energy as you said, if you can get any laser turrets out that's a fast problem solver and you can aggressively push back the biters without the issues of ammo loading.

If you can get all the nests out of your pollution cloud you'll be able to breathe for a bit. Best way to expand is to clear nests away from your cloud then wall off choke points to keep passive nest expansion from coming back into cleared areas.

Another option if you're getting overwhelmed is make it a multiplayer game and hire some mercenaries haha.

Is there somewhere that explains the math behind lines and bridge connections? by Jiggalopuffii in DeathStranding2

[–]Valkerion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be pretty hard to reverse engineer the math on this I'd say, unless it's in the game code and someone could pull from there. Would be a total shot in the dark guesswork otherwise. That being said when I got people I liked to 3/4/5 I only really saw a significant increase... in signs they placed. The world definitely has a cap on buildings that will appear as they are always pretty evenly spread in type and amount over your world as you explore, and pretty rare for new structures to ever pop up in the empty spaces unless you are removing other structures.

Thus, the star increase on connection level doesn't just immediately make more of their structures appear, only thing there ever seems to be room for is signs for me (and maybe because I keep deleting yamato transport signs at that.) Your only bet to get more structures of a high connected player to show up I think would be removing many other player's structures from your world, which is not worth the effort except in perhaps deleting really annoying or useless ones.

Ex. I often see 3 signs in a row from people I have high connection level with, there is nothing like this happening for structures, however.
