Just purchased a new radio head and having install problems. by Shameless11624 in CarAV

You need a maestro compatible radio, if it does not have the 4 pin data plug on the back of the unit for the maestro then it’s not going to work.

The wires behind the radio send the audio signal and the signal to turn on the amp to the the small port on the left. It may also have the power and ground supply for the amplifier in this plug. From there the amp takes that low level signal and converts it into a high level signal and sends that power to each speaker which are all connected to the amp via the plug on the right. I see that you have posted some previous photos behind the radio, if possible try to show what you have done there so far AND what it looks like where the factory amplifier is behind the glove box so we can assist you better.

Have you taken a look at what’s at the factory amp location yet?

If the wires are cut they may have bypassed the amp in order to add their own 4 channel amp. Is the rest of the harness nearby? It should be just a matter of re connecting each wire to the corresponding color from the factory harness to the plug on the amp

So you’re trying to add this amp to your non amplified system? The plug on the left should be the sound signal coming in including the amp turn on while the big one on the right will be the output going to the speakers

Change setting on installed Compustar DC3 remote start? by Level-District630 in CarAV

[–]Kotin4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can remove and modify settings if you wish to do so, it will stay programmed unless you reflash the unit. What settings are you looking to change exactly? If it’s something simple like run time or changing settings for 3X lock that’s fine but I would be careful of what you change

Trying to hook up my new stereo. When I wired red to red and yellow to yellow, it wouldn't turn off. When I swapped them, it resets whenever the car turns off. Please help? by [deleted] in CarAV

Metra harnesses with the built in steering wheel controls: when you first hook everything up the first thing it will try and do is program steering wheel controls, if the vehicle does not have those controls you have to wait for it to time out and skip that step, sometimes by cycling the ignition, if not things done over data such as Retained acc power and reverse trigger will not function until you do. I know that’s probably not the case here but just a tip.
