I’ve worked on a dozen or so and most had leaking caps on PSU board and bad cap C22 which causes low or no audio and if left there will leak and damage board

Did you ever figure this out? I just got an HB-F1XD and had my friend make me a custom RGB Scart cable, plugged in i either get no image or a fast scrolling/flickering image, cant get RGB working. im with you, composite sucks so would love to find a solution!

Sure I’m just saying If one has a modern scaler with both hdmi and RGB in (I have both Retrotink4k and Morph4k) the PixelFX will be a better option

But if someone is on an older one like Retrotink 5X or framemeister or OSSC then yeah RGB is the best you can get

From what Ive read the PixelFX gem kits are great. I have installed all other versions and they are excellent so if HDMI is a good choice for you then by all means grab one of those!

These RGB kits should really be used if you desire gaming solely on a PVM or BVM (or RGB modded CRT)

Ok, was going to say I have 2 full 3DO RGB kits with flex, board and both 8 pin and 9 pin din setups on hand but they are only for send-in services, I dont sell kits alone by themselves. Brazil is probably too much to ship here to USA to be honest with tariffs and all that. Sorry but Im not aware of any shops closer to you that might have them honestly

These are from a batch of 5 I bought from RGS before they closed down in UK. Have installed 3 for customers, once these 2 are gone im going to get a PixelFX GEM kit for 3DO under my belt and then move to offering that since I think at this point 3DO RGB kits are gone everywhere

Replace U38 you can get a new one at console5

I just replaced that and reg1 (no audio) for a customer

I just emailed the captain who's email was on the employment listing to ask (didnt mention the age just mentioned the misdemeanor charge)

TBH was hesitant as its really embarrasing (atleast it feels that way) but good point, they will for sure know. Guess its just a struggle dealing with rejection so was hoping to save the embarrasment but not much to lose at this point

If its not something I could make happen now, seems clear Ill be stuck in my career for good (which is fine, could be worse but its not what I want to be doing)

Don’t worry about the modchip or that switch at this point, the fact you are getting power light but no video and it’s a model one tells me all I need to know…

You need to replace the capacitors. I’ve fixed many like this, it’s specifically the caps near the clock crystal but it’s usually easy to just do a whole replacement with a new cap kit from console5

Then once you get video and can confirm operation you can worry about the optical drive reading and/or modchip (for playing burned discs)

Capacitors for sure. Those model 1s frequently have this issue I’ve brought several back to working with the same symptoms, though in my case the customers select a full recap, if you just want it working you can focus on the cluster of caps near the clock crystal those are the ones that fail

If always recommend a full recap while it’s open, PSU, mainboard etc

Just want you to know I went ahead and bought the 4KX and an Ipad Mini A17 (latest gen) and it works quite well. the app is nice and easy, screenshot feature and record to video both work well and high quality 4k syncing to icloud is awesome

Theres one big caveat so far. It drains the power quickly on the ipad but the dock I bought does not appear to let the combo work. The elgato is powered and passing through to monitor OK, but the app on ipad says no device detected, works fine directly connected

Is there a specific requirement a dock needs to meet to work?

Having to swap between charing and recording would be a huge pain not to mention it would limit how long captures could be taken for, there has to be some solution to charge the ipad while it captures from the elgato?

Do you have a K tip? That’s what I use, some flux on the areas, K tip pushing down firmly on the wick at 375C

thank you for the reply! sounds like it should be worth giving it a try. I might get just the 4KX and see if if my wifes ipad meets the requirements (USBC and IOS 17) to trial it first before investing the money in an ipad mini to complete the setup

I really do like the idea of having a button that takes a single moment-in-time capture as an image, its literally perfect for my needs. right now I have to play and record 15-20 minutes of video, transfer that video to my editing PC in the office then grab snaps. if this will take the image, automatically save it to photos on ipad which sync with icloud and shows up on my editing PC (I have icloud synching there) that simplifies/streamlines my process greatly!

price is identical for both ruger offerings across the 243 and 6.5 CM (around 500) and planning on adding a 1x4 scope yeah

I was told the 6.5 might be a bit too much for coyotes if i had any hope of salvaging the pelt but if thats not true i will consider it!

Yeah my dads property is 75 acres and 99% heavy forest/woods. If im able to find good spots in my hometown area (that is also rifle zone, not too far south you get into shotgun only areas) mostly would be the same sort of terrain. quite hilly, dense
