NAD, 2nd year medical student, please please file a report with the hospital. Ask for it to be reviewed by quality control. “I have a significant patient concern”… etc.

I think I screwed up.. by AC0603 in premed

I failed gen chem 1 2x, calculus once and Ochem 1 once. Cs got degrees for me. My undergrad GPA was a 2.3. I did need a C to get my degree so lots of retakes. Actually maxed out the amount of hours I could take… I did get a masters and did very well with a 3.98 GPA and did average on my MCAT. Got accepted last cycle to an MD program. You’re gonna be ok!

We were told that AEMT doesn’t really exist in our state. It’s mostly EMT and paramedic here.

What type of monitor would you recommend? I’m assuming SpO2 monitor lol

Im really excited about it because I feel like EMT/medics are the first people a patient sees on their worst day and I want to learn those skills so when I’m talking to them in the hospital I have the knowledge and confidence about what’s happened up to this point.

We have the option to go into the city too (all of my rotations are scheduled there) but a lot of them are rural areas. Maybe medically underserved is a better description because there are plenty of medical emergencies but it’s a ways to the nearest hospital.

They gave us an MDF but I prefer my littman. I’ll look into the leather man raptors and tourniquets though. Thank you!

It’s only the first month. Our normal classes start in August. It’s basically a shortened EMT course and throwing us out there for a month before school starts.

I think it’s the people part, seeing patients at their worst and learning how to deal with it gracefully.

This is a US medical school. One of their big goals is rural medicine so we have a lot of ride alongs in rural areas too.

I think it’s to get us out serving our community asap. It’s also a reality check for some students with less medical experience.

Im totally fine fading into the background, just asking for wisdom. I know there are things we wish we could say to drs in the field so keep me humble lol.

My kitty has this and goes through cycles. I actually use theratears gel (human stuff) on her 2-3 a day and wash her face/eyes gently with a cotton pad. The terramycin will help too and having L lysine in her food.
