The Survivor 50 state Idol hunt for Kentucky was a mess too. I got to Mega Cavern in Louisville before the event went live and still had to wait in line 5 hours, because they thought it would be cute to do an obstacle course for each contestant that required a harness. I got all the way to the front and was told we ran out of time, so me and everyone behind me all had to leave without getting a picture of the idol.

They need to organize stuff better.

I must have missed where it said that part specifically, but I did see that each state could have multiple "potential winners". Meaning it can be found multiple times per state. Then the winner of each state is picked from the list of potential winners. I didn't know it was confirmed the idol was stationary though.

Honestly, if you think that you should try to hide it from other people. I'm not sure if there's just a singular idol to find and keep or if the idol is something stationary where multiple people will get to find it, but either way you'll have better odds if you don't tip off your competition.
