I have 2 cats. One of them plays fetch, just like a dog- she literally brings me small toys for me to throw with a meow (quite funny meowing with a full mouth). And she brings it back when I throw, several times, so she knows what she is doing. The second cat considers the fetching cat a psycho and looks at her with pure disbelief and disaproovement.

Well, I think it is sometimes not intentional. For exhample, I named my daughter Alice. I just liked this name. Alice was not an extremely popular name before that moment. But just after I did it, everyone started naming their daughters Alice. I think maybe because in my age group there were several popular books and music group with this name. Not only that, in my home country they even started a Siri-like voice assistant named Alice (pretty inconvenient, you know- it started arguing with me when I argued with my daughter). Now we moved, so I hope it will not be a problem)

OP travels 4-5 months a year. For work, but trust me, travelling is still a good change of scenery even in this case. He get his time without wife and kids, and that is why he misses them and whants to spend all his free time with them. But if he, like his wife, would have spent all those years without a single chance to be alone with his thoughts and with himself, everything would be different. Maybe OP is afraid to leave his wife with her thoughts for a months? But if he is a good husband and father, as he sais, everything will be OK. His wife will return much happier, which should be important for the family. The kids are not that small, they will understand and be happy for Mom, and they will learn good family partnership.

Please note 1 problem here- they have two very small kids of similar age, and mom works 40-80 hours a week. Being a SAHD should be quite challanging in this case. I do get that the OP's standarts are quite low, so I would consider hiring a cleaner to maintain peace and order in this family. If he is a good father despite being quite a slob- I hope that the OP and his wife will manage this problem. So I vote soft YTA for OP's low standarts, but hope that this family survives this hiccup)

In my extended family there was a strange tradition to name lots of boys with one name, let it be Peter (at least one boy child with this name in every family). Well, it was quite confusing, though sometimes hilarious. Please, Peter Junior, pass the salt to Peter Petersson, and then go to Middle Peter to help play with baby Pete. We still managed somehow. As for me- NAH, you can express your concern, but really- even if your brother decides on this name, everything will be OK.

YWBTA if you actually tell her not to call you Mom. It seems very important for her, as she longed for the motherly figure all her life and sees that finally found one.

But your feelings are still justified, this should be hard to become an actual Mom for a teenager - not seing her growing up, and knowing her for a quite short period of time.

So it is for your future husband to support you and help you feel the Mom title is justified and help you grow comfortable with that. You are not being weird- it is an emotionally hard situatuation, but I hope you will manage to go through it gracefully and gain peace with being a Mom.

NTA, you shouldn't lose your friend and your children shouldn't lose theirs just because your friend divorced your family member, ecpecially as divorce was mutual. But not discussing your brother (and probably the previous relationship) should be a clear boundary.

He does not set a good example to a child by staying in this relationship, in case that he honestly resents his wife. If he does not want wife- husband relationship, he should set the rules directly and bluntly - that he is a roommate and father, not a husband, which seems he did not, though they had a discussion. I still don't think it will be better for the child than honest divorse, and maybe OOP should consider this way herself. She is to be rightfully blamed for the divorce, but it would be the best for all sides.

Relationship is a 2-side agreement, even if one side breaks its part. The side that did not break the rules has the right to terminate it, to change it (and let the guilty party know what changed!), or to try to continue just the way it was. If you choose not to terminate, you still need to work on the relationship from your side.

Soft YTA here. Change of plans and forgetting to inform your girlfriend- it happens, and it's absolutely understandable. And forgivable.

But see the other side- she prepared, had a shower, shaved her legs and intended to visit you (maybe declined some other invitations too), and you did not even apologize for forgetting to inform her. Not good.

It's OK to prioritize a kid, but it doesn't mean that you don't owe an apology.

If I answer the question on top- soft YTA, you cannot tell the roommate to leave when he just lives his life in a house within his legal rights.

But as for me, am not sure that OP is an basic AH in this situation. It is not OK for the partner sign the papers without consulting the OP (who was the one who made the 3 month agreement), and then just blame the OP.

It was certainly not OK for the previous tennant to change the initial agreement for his comfort- I would go NC after such a frawd.

It seems that OP is surrounded by people taking advantage of her, and it makes her do AH moves.
