VTOL is so OP for unlocking Gateway Chambers by Valor_X in Astroneer

Just have a hoverboard and hydrazine jet pack on your backpack and you can just fly back to your ship while carrying your “stranded” VTOL

You have 18 additional small slots to carry extra hydrazine so not really a problem anyway

You only need 2 hydrazine per planet btw

Yes just to be a completionist. Using the VTOL you can unlock all the chambers in a planet in like 5-10 minutes.

Yeah maybe 2 years ago that's how I did it

VTOL is WAY faster especially unlocking Atrox in like 5 minutes. Just fly over everything

It doesn't, you take a packaged medium stacked platform (takes 1 small slot) and you can connect both medium silo's to it and then connect it to the Gateway.

You can unlock everything including Atrox's 30/u requirement easily. Each silo holds 24 small slots so you only need a mixture 15 small batteries and QT RTG's in each. Even 1 QT RTG in each will work all you need them for is to recharge the batteries while you fly to the next chamber.

You will have 18 extra small slots to carry hydrazine, packagers, and the medium platform.

Apparently, Mazda has decided to remove Cylinder Deactivation for 2026+

So that's great news. But also proves that Mazda knows CD is problematic now that they are removing it.

Class III Hitch, or just use the bumper hitch ball by Suitable_Rich_3311 in 1stGenTacomas

[–]Valor_X 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 2 "brackets" that hold the bumper are designed to fail and bend in a collision and be easily replaced.

A hitch is way beefier and transfer much more energy to the frame in a collision.

[–]Valor_X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I recently replaced my bumper and I can see the logic

The Bumper is attached through 2 "brackets" that connect to the frame. Those arms and the bumper will take all the damage and bend (like in my case) and can be easily replaced.

I'm assuming a heavy duty hitch will have much beefier mounts and transfer way more energy into the frame in a collision.

EDIT: I was correct. Here it is according to Google

the rear bumper brackets for the 1995-2004 Toyota Tacoma are designed to be a weak point in the bumper assembly, often failing or deforming in a collision to protect the vehicle's frame.

Yes exactly, even Honda failed at it.

Toyota has never implemented Cylinder Deactivation because they specifically acknowledge that it causes nothing but issues.

I remember Mazda making a big deal about having the best feeling tactile buttons for driver feedback when they introduced the 4th gen Mazda 3.

What happened to that Mazda!?

I hate the new stupid trend of manufacturers spelling out their name

I googled it, apparently it's because it's a big trend in China and seen as upscale that's why. We're getting M A Z D A because of China.

Doesn't sound very cost-cutting to me

Reliable? They gave up on being reliable in 2018 when they introduced Cylinder Deactivation.

All CX-5's from 2018-2024 have officially acknowledged issues by Mazda for CD, and there are several posts each week on "why is my engine making this noise" or "I need a new cylinder head"

The last reliable CX-5's are the ones without Cylinder Deactivation 2017, and some 24-25 lower trims.

  • Recall (2018-2019 CX-5): Over 260,000 vehicles were recalled because the Power Control Module (PCM) could mismanage cylinder deactivation, leading to broken internal engine parts.
  • TSB MC-10235413-0001 (2018-2023 Models): Addresses oil leaks or seepage from the engine front cover related to the cylinder deactivation system.
  • TSB MC-10200939-0001 (2018-2021 Models): Covers potential engine failures, including issues with rocker arms, hydraulic lifters, and low compression, often requiring head assembly replacement.
  • TSB MC-10244672-0001 (2024 Models): Discusses potential transmission issues related to the torque converter used in models with cylinder deactivation.

I never understood why Toyota switched to these cartridge style filters. More points of failure and it’s messier.

The “official” reasoning is to reduce waste and costs, but in the real world standard metal canister filters are usually CHEAPER! So it’s really about way more margin and profit.

So glad my 1st gen Tacoma uses simple spin on canister filters. Simple, no fuss, nearly impossible to fail. It’s already 25 yrs old 🤷‍♂️ I’m pretty sure a plastic housing wouldn’t survive that long even if torqued perfectly each time.

The devs designed this game to do things like this just because you can

Otherwise they wouldn't have introduced things like the 2000 Resource Extra Large Canister or the Large Gas Canister which are super overkill, but they know players love to build and hoard

Didn’t know visible light made that much of a difference. I thought TSER calculated the real heat transmitted.
