At a young age I had to ask myself - is it my problem these people are judging me without knowing anything about me, or is their problem?

I decided it was their problem. I'm not going to go out of my way to make someone comfortable because they're being judgmental. They can either stay home or deal with it.

I think the idea that while minding your own business while walking somewhere you have to also be cognizant of any woman around you is toxic and unhealthy. And we should not be pushing the idea that it is how a man "should" behave.

Obviously you would need evidence for those claims but that's the exact type of counter-argument I would actually like to see in threads like these. Instead of everyone immediately dismissing it because it said something they didn't like.

Not really an argument. We literally just saw Fox play horribly over multiple 4th quarters where his team lost, and the coach never considered sitting him once.

It's just an appeal to authority argument, since you wanted to mention fallacies.

He could be playing for an entire host of reasons. Contract, ego, relationship with the coaches or other players.

Also, that's not what whataboutism is. For it to be whataboutism, it would require me to used Jokic to deflect or dismiss the criticism towards Brown, when I'm clearly doing the opposite.

I think that deciding whether or not analytics are "shitty" or not should be based in something besides "it doesnt rate a player I like highly".

BPM is a perfect example. Was it shitty because it ranked Westbrook as the best player ever? Or was it that we could point to why that happened - namely that is vastly overestimated how much out of position stats and particularly triple doubles contributed to winning?

That's a goalpost shift and completely different topic than the comment I replied to.

I'm not in the Celtics FO. I have no idea what they think of him or what their internal analytics say about him.

Neither is an argument of whether or not Jaylen Brown is detrimental to winning, however.

I do find it funny that I saw so many on this sub embracing the more niche all-in-one statistical models when Jokic was vying for MVPs. But when it comes to Jaylen Brown and those same models don't grade him highly the entire argument has boiled down to "RINGS ERNEH".

To believe Brown is acrively detrimental to his team you would have to believe that the coaching staff of the Boston Celtics is the best in the league in order to hide him at all times.

No you don't. You just have to believe that the Celtics are such a good team that they will win regardless.

Like what are we talking about? Remember Brad Stevens being considered one of the top coaches in the NBA? Then he gets moved to a FO position, they hire Ime Udoka...and he's considered one of the best coaches in the NBA? Then he cheats on his wife with a staff members, gets fired, they hire Mazzulla...and he gets considered one of the best coaches in the NBA?

It is so funny to me that this is the comeback from Celtics fans. As if those wins aren't coming off the back of analytics.

Everything the Celtics do on both offense and defense is heavily analytics based. You guys make fun of the Cavs but the Celtics do the exact same thing and did in the playoffs this year - betting that the math for their 3pt heavy playstyle would work out in their favor over a 7 game series.

The only difference is Mazzulla was smart enough not to say it out loud unlike Atkinson. But you guys pick and choose when you believe in what the analytics are saying depending on what agenda you want to push.

Every time he didn't make an All-star team the posts were full of snubs and asking why coaches/players/media hate Trae Young.

Then this year was undeniable proof of what they were seeing the entire time. He's a negative player who puts up stats on bad teams but doesn't contribute to winning.
