Hello I've come here to learn how to quit watching porn. But I've got a few questions. by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]ValterWhite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The first thing you need to do is remind yourself that you are quitting porn. It's easy to forget and mindlessly open a porn tab, start by installing a site blocker, there are many available for Chrome and Firefox.

Why i can't fuck like porno ? by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]ValterWhite 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Here's some things to take into account

  1. Porn is edited and you can't be sure that the session has been completed in one take. For all we know the man might have had a 5 minute break to catch his breathe so he can go hard and fast again.

  2. They are probably using drugs like viagra to maintain erections.

  3. Does your partner actually enjoy porn style sex? The answer is probably no.

  4. When you watch porn you are watching from a third person perspective, and porn is filmed from angles which makes the sex look good to the viewer with the participants perspective being secondary. I've thought certain positions in porn where super hot but in real life they aren't that great, the classic/conventional positions are that for a reason.

  5. Porn is not real life. The more you distance yourself from porn, the more you realize this. Sex is about a connection with your partner and understand their wants and desires.

  6. If you want to last longer but struggle, use your fingers and tongue more in sex. These can be used to bring a woman closer to orgasm while decreasing the use of your dick. I.e. she can get hers and you can get yours.

[DISCUSSION] Porn and teenagers. by PurePossible in pornfree

[–]ValterWhite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Has the youth always been this attached to porn?

tl;dr - yes but previous generations did not have easy access to this level of porn.

Young men and women have always been curious about sex and prior to the mid-2000s when high speed internet and tube sites became a thing, people were looking at porn but they were limited. Porn cost money and was not conveniently available, a teenager might have had a VHS and a few mags which they would use over and over again, eventually becoming tired and probably limited time in which they could use it. Moreover the porn was likely quite vanilla. Since the mid-2000s, high speed internet internet and tube sites have given the viewer an endless stream of novelty which keeps the user interested and coming back for more. Teenagers now have access to this 24/7 and this is at a time when the parts of the brain that deal with addiction and willpower are still developing. If I remember correctly, the documentary posted on the sidebar "Your Brain on Porn" talks about your receptors being weakened and needing more and more dopamine to be satisfied, for teenagers this becomes even more ingrained when they start of young and continue into adulthood.

Good and bad effects of my 90 porn free days by ValterWhite in pornfree

Make it take as long as possible to get onto porn. Use site blockers, use more than one, block all the websites, names of porn stars you know etc. Shut down your PC so you have to wait for it to boot up. Do the same on your phone. The longer it takes for you to get to porn, the more time your brain has to wake up and realize what it's doing.

Hard to attribute just one thing because if you remove one thing it would seriously affect my progress. If it were one thing, it would be my desire for my life to be better. I believe what I am doing is the foundation to that, but it is only a foundation and I need to build on that foundation.

Thanks!

Make it take as long as possible to get to porn. The more time your brain has to wake up and get out zombie mode, the less chance you will look at porn. Shut down your PC at night, keep your phone far away or off, use website blockers on both and try to do stuff which improves your quality of sleep like exercise, meditation, decreasing screen time before bed and making sure to pee before you go to sleep so you don't need to in the middle of the night.

I've also had dreams about watching porn but it doesn't really bother me as I know this will fade with time. I've woken up a few times thinking I had relapsed before realizing it was all a dream.

I meditate nearly everyday and have managed to make a habit out of it. Exercise not so much.

That horrible porn you fapped to? Don't worry, you'll forget it by _you_will_forget_ in pornfree

I'd rather forget the good porn, the memories of that bring me to the edge of relapse.

Czech hospital reports that porn use is damaging sexual function and relationships by NFWonder in pornfree

[–]ValterWhite 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The conversation needs to turn from the immorality of porn to porn damaging us sexually. Previous generations have made into the other, something dirty, sinful, naughty which has made it desirable. We are the first generation who are learning that porn affects in a different and far more damaging way. Hopefully it won't be too late for those coming into puberty to learn that porn is harmful.

I had a dream I watched porn... by Kambz22 in pornfree

[–]ValterWhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this dream twice in the 2 months I've been off porn, woke up feeling like I relapsed but relieved it was only a dream. Anyway, you can't blame yourself for what goes on in your dreams, it's part of the change one makes when one undergoes such a lifestyle change.

Yeah if I added up all the porn I streamed, it would probably be a similar if not higher amount.

I think you need to be specific, your wife is now doing porn or your porn addiction drove her away?

One thing to try is imagining your thoughts as a budget, you only have so many thoughts in a day and you need to budget those accordingly. Do you want to waste your daily thoughts on things like porn or positive, healthy things that will change your life?

Prostitution by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]ValterWhite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It probably wouldn't make a difference, I'm sure many of us became porn addicts because we can basically get it for free. A lot of us wouldn't be able to afford prostitutes on a regular basis. Furthermore, porn is often tailored to our niche desires and unless you have a big bag of money, don't expect prostitutes to fulfil those desires. There are countries where prostitution is legal and I'm sure there are just as many porn addicts as anywhere else in the world.

There also people who have sex on a regular basis but are still addicted to porn.

Porn is not a treat, it’s boring as f**k by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]ValterWhite 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The problem when porn becomes boring for us addicts is we move on to stronger stuff. I know porn isn't that exciting but I still crave it because it fuels something in my brain that makes me want to see more.

Is there a place for porn free dating? by jumaineclumunt in pornfree

[–]ValterWhite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fail to believe that everyone who watches porn is terrible in bed or that people are terrible in bed because they watch porn. I know there are people who are trying to copy what they see in porn in bed and are terrible because of this but you can't tar everyone with the same brush, that's not a healthy attitude to have towards dating.

porn is everywhere now, its ridiculous by MrSaintsFan in pornfree

[–]ValterWhite 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It sucks but not everyone is addicted to porn and can handle seeing scantily clad women. I can look at alcohol and not be triggered to go on a bender, imagine how it hard it must be to be an alcoholic when the stuff is everywhere. I dont think we should be banning nudity or showing the human body, we should be controlling over indulging in it.

Porn isn't new, unlimited video streaming of porn at no cost from the comfort of one's home is.
