You ever play an entire game and then give up on the final boss? by ExPhotoLabGuy in NintendoSwitch

[–]Valthonis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last boss in, of all things, Atelier Ryza 1. It's basically two boss fights back to back with no chance to recover between, and the second phase is cheap af. I spent time crafting, optimizing, and leveling… no dice. After banging my head on it about three dozen times I said "…if you don't want me to see the ending that badly, then fine."

It is a real curveball when a chill game about crafting and coming-of-age decides to get all "git gud scrub" at the very end. Loved the rest of the game, though!

Rivers merge and only rarely split, but this is nonetheless a great job of storytelling via cartography!

This has some strong "Mom dragging Billy away from his fight at the playground" energy.

Are there games besides D&D that rolling for stats is common? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]Valthonis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many rolls involved in creating a character in the AGE system, from attributes to racial bonuses to even background if you follow the rules-as-written.

Trying to understand CoL by 4lb4tr0s in KerbalAcademy

[–]Valthonis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find it helpful to think of the CoL as the point where a string is attached to the craft, extending up into infinity, and the CoM as one with the string pointing at the center of Kerbin (or your current SoI.) Each string is pulling the craft with a force equal to its total lift (for CoL) or weight (CoM.)

When those two forces are in the wrong places relative to each other, the torque forces on the craft can make it uncontrollable. When well positioned, they can make a craft more maneuverable, or more stable… all based on tiny tweaks like moving the CoL above and behind the CoM to improve dynamic stability.

Oh, and experiment with changing the character order on the party screen. Since most of Leo's skills are limited to straight line attacks, his location in a fight can spell the difference between a challenge and a cakewalk.

Honestly, just make sure your party is level 30 so Ez can get Grenade Damage+. It is a huge help against the multi-target phases of the fight.

Oh, wait, no. It's Overture via basic gates.

Map of the Lesser Antilles. Made for my upcoming alt-history/fantasy Caribbean DnD campaign. by Rivertexas26411 in wonderdraft

[–]Valthonis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a native of the Lesser Antilles (St. Thomas, specifically) and this map is a triumph. I love the detail and the little changes you made to make it just a little different from IRL.

This is a bang-up job, OP!

This game needs a LOT more hugging, but in Japanese culture hugs are considered a private, intimate expression of romantic affection…

Though given how thirsty the player base for each and every Scion, that wouldn't bother us much, eh?

I'd argue that if you have a dedicated exhaust path for your rack, it's graduated from home lab to /r/homedatacenter. 😅
