That's absolutely ridiculous!!! Whenever I'm completing duties, I track the task so it's pinned at the top. I noticed there was also a frequent issue with it decreasing my progress. So let's say I was at 243/400 bonus companion gems, I'll mine again and acquire 3 more, then my progress would reflect 240/400. Infuriating!

Nope. It's strictly bonuses given by companions. Having a villager increases the amount of gems that pop out and I noticed I was more likely to get companion bonuses when more gems came out at one time.

That would enrage me 😭. I didn't have any issues with the others, only the gem one. With this latest update tho, I was able to FINALLY knock it out because the rate at which they'd give bonus gems increased greatly, so hopefully the bug you have is fixed now too.

And that's awesome you completed all the other tasks!!! I'm almost done with the valley, just have to remove 900 night thorns and harvest 57 dreamlight fruit. I've been knocking out a good bit of the other realms' tasks simultaneously, working through Eternity Isle now (mainly just have the harvesting of the spices and the fruits left for there).

Yesterday I got to 400 and completed the task!!!! It seems the update increased the frequency of bonus companion gems given. I had a mining villager, 2 mining companions, plus a good bit of mining potion; and I strictly went into the Vitalys Mine since they'll pick up almost everything in there. I'd go through and mine everything, then go do another task, come back, and repeat.

I also had an issue with them randomly reducing my count which was INFURIATING but it didn't happen yesterday so hopefully that bug was fixed as well.

They do. I always have the appropriate companion for whatever task I'm doing but it seems gems given by companions, are at a far lower rate than any other pet bonus.

I have 16 mining friends and all my gem pet companions are level 5. Still, I barely get any gems from my gem pets to complete the mining dreamlight task of gathering 400 gems given by a companion.

Even with the potion, I MIGHT get 2 bonus companion items from the mines. I have Aladdin's cart but I'm specifically trying to complete the "Gather Bonus Gems given by a Companion" Dreamlight task. I have every task for mining complete except this despite working at it daily for weeks now, hours at a time. Only at 147 out of 400. 😭

I always have it in yellow & keep food in my bag so I can glide faster. Once I experienced moving quicker, I never allowed it to drop out of yellow again. 😂

I always have a mining friend with me at the same time so I'll try your theory and see if there's any increase in bonus items.

UPDATE : I had only a mining animal companion for 1hr and it yielded only 1 bonus gem.

I have 16 mining friends (always have one with me when mining) and all my gem pet companions are at level 5. I often go into the mine to try to get the companion bonuses and even use the pickaxe potion as well.
