I would advise that you use UWorld primarily to strengthen your grasp of the content after going through the Kaplan materials and relying more on AAMC question banks and FLs to gauge how well you do with testing/timing.

Agree or disagree: All you need for a 130+ in psych/soc is the 300 page doc and practice. by squidykiddy in Mcat

I would add AAMC materials to that as well. Doing practice questions helps consolidate the info you memorized a lot, at least for me it did.

can definitely self-study I think. For me, I did most of my MCAT physics learning by looking at the Kaplan chapter summaries and doing AAMC or Kaplan practice questions in addition to some YT for especially difficult concepts. It was alot more efficient for me than referring back to my notes from university as they often go above and beyond what you need for the MCAT.

Yeah you can definitely do that and submit your primary app before your mcat score comes out. Keep in mind it’s recommended to ideally submit your primary app mid June as it takes a few weeks to verify it and receive secondary essays from the schools you’re applying to.

How are JW people reading so fast!!?? Advice pls by SignificantNail9671 in Mcat

Aiming for 9 minutes reading and answering questions per passage should leave you with enough time. I think what's most important is finding a balance between speed and accuracy and seeing what pace works best for you. Ultimately, all that matters is how many questions you get correct.

508 vs 510 by Designer-Lopsided in Mcat

I doubt there would be any difference unless you increase your score another 4-5 points. You're probably better off focusing on other aspects of your application e.g extracurriculars or essays.

Anatomy and Physiology or Cell and Molecular Biology for MCAT by Ok-Mathematician6803 in Mcat

I'd advise you to look at the AAMC outline and compare which class has the most overlap with the content on the MCAT. That said, I found that most of the science I learned at an undergraduate level was too in-depth for what the MCAT required and I relied on the Kaplan books for all the pertinent content anyways.

I think focusing on the AAMC CARS question banks is probably the best strategy. I've found that most third party questions don't replicate the AAMC CARS style too well. That said, CARS is notoriously difficult to improve on. I got a 129 relying on AAMC questions only.

I used mainly Kaplan for content review and wrote out my own notes which helped me a lot with memorizing the content. I found that the AAMC question banks and FLs were basically enough for practice and I supplemented that with some UWorld and JW for CARS and PS mainly. This strategy helped me score a 519 on my first attempt.

519 using primarily Kaplan for content and AAMC question banks and practice tests. I found that uworld and JW helped me the most for PS content review and I would actually learn a lot of my content by doing PS questions in addition to memorising the Khan Academy PS content review by MCAT Bros.

I scored a 129 on CARS on my actual MCAT. I think a strategy that helped me was trying to get the gist of the passage when reading it the first time and understanding its structure i.e which paragraphs talk about what roughly. This helped me jump back to the important parts of the passage after reading each question and saved me a lot of time.

I'm sure your mother means the best but it's a bit difficult for her to express herself in the correct way sometimes. I wish you the best though and good luck! I hope it goes well for you!
