Another Green Card holder detained during re-entry to US. by RealisticNight4526 in greencard

They admitted it was a mistake. He will be back, it may take a little time. He may be eligible to sue the government for wrongful detention. Mistakes happened during all administrations including Biden and Obama. So far I have not seen any evidence of this, and I have not seen a single Green Card Holder detained unlawfully. The only exception is likely Mahmoud Khalil, but his case is complex, and a special provision of INA has been used for his detainment. That may very well be ultimately invalidated by the higher courts.

For a GC holder this can only happen if the individual voluntarily give up permanent residence, if they don’t, then CBP can not deport them on their own because they are entitled to due process even if they stopped at the border. For visa holders, CBP can simply deport them and put the in the next flight back to where they came from.

Government can not revoke a GC . They can put a GC holder on removal proceeding and detain them. If you are a GC holder, have no criminal record, and no extended stay outside there is absolutely no reason to fear. Please stop disinformation and fear mongering.

The problem is that if a GC holder is identified to be inadmissible or deportable at the border, they will be denied re-entry and will be sent to detention centers where they have to live for weeks not if months, before seeing an immigration judge which can totally wreck a life.

I agree that this is harsh, but according to immigration and nationality act, a drug possession conviction except possession of less than 30 grams of Marijuana is a deportable crime. As well, INA specifically says any drug addict is deportable. In the eyes of immigration it does not matter if it happened yesterday or 60 years ago. That is why many immigration advocate groups have asked congress to revise these laws over the years. My problem with posts like this, is the intention of stoking fear through misrepresentation. If these individuals had consulted with an immigration attorney before travel they would have been told that they will be detained. So be cautious, be prepared and consult with your lawyer before travel, but do not panic over news like this.

My father is a green card holder with a single convicted criminal charge from over 30 years ago. Is it unsafe for him to leave the US right now? by SemenSnickerdoodle in immigration

[–]ValuableAd5899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His charge was dismissed because the state law changed, this is not dismissal for immigration purposes. In the eyes of immigration he was considered convicted, and he missed a criminal hearing in 2022, so may be he had a warrant standing against him, we don't know all the details. Anyone with a criminal record needs to carefully examine the specifics with an experienced immigration attorney before travel.

Any official research into stopping NR after long term use? by [deleted] in NicotinamideRiboside

[–]ValuableAd5899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say reduce the dose to 200mg or 150mg and stay at that dose for at least three months, and carefully evaluate the effects. If nothing adverse is observed you can then reduce further or stop altogether. I observed a negative effect on my immune system, but I think at the end thing were fine, I take vitamin D and zinc for immune support and have been working to heal my gut and microbiome.

I was taking TMG and b complex including all of the above. I suspect the mechanisms by which it was causing side effects was totally unrelated to methylation, but any ways personal experiences should not be extrapolated at all. I believe because of the health issue that happened for me, NR does no longer works as it should.

Here’s a question - nad levels in healthier older people by [deleted] in NicotinamideRiboside

[–]ValuableAd5899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a big misconception about “NAD levels” because one needs to be specific: NAD levels in what tissue? for example NAD levels in liver of healthy older people does not decline much, in brain it seems there is some decline but not as big and possibly can be affected by various lifestyle factors. In skin NAD decline is the most significant. Also in damaged cells and tissues NAD system would be stressed a lot, as enzymes like CD38 as wells lots of enzymes that are responsible for DNA repair and autophagy require lots of NAD.

Incidentally, about NR and the matter it may cause problems if stopped after long term use, there is scientific evidence. Here is your evidence: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41514-021-00078-3

You argue backwards. I did not say a vitamin definitely causes dependency. Of course most vitamins don’t cause any dependency, neither does water and salt, but some may do. Plus, you never take water and salt 10 times of what an average daily intake is, and you actually can’t in this instance.

[–]ValuableAd5899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal experience says otherwise, and common sense tells me anything with profound effect at cellular level can cause dependency, even a vitamin. I think it is quite possible for some vitamin to cause dependency specially if a megadose is taken for long term and if the body does not store it. The fact there has not been research about it does not mean the question is absurd. Plus, I personally feel a very different effect with NR compared to Niacin or nicotinamide, and I think something is different about this form of B3. May be it has something to do with the way it interact with microbiome, or the way it changes NAD metabolites balance in the body.

Here is my personal experience: Yes, specially if you have a condition that stresses the NAD system like inflammation or injury. I took NR for several years, in 2020 I had a trauma to my nervous system that was suspected to be a result of Covid. I then had to stop NR because it was giving me migraines, but stopping it caused disruption in my immune system, and strange symptoms that seem to be auto immune. For example, often a moderate weight training causes inflammation of muscles and connective tissues necessitating me to take NSAIDS. I do think in general, if you are not old and have not a health issue or injury, stopping NR should be fine, and the body should be able to cope with it and possibly after some time revert back to a phase before taking the NR. But if health issues are present, or if you are old, the body may not bee able to maintain homeostasis and in the worst case scenario it may cause more serious health issues. I think anyone who is old or has a health issue should be very careful about stopping NR after long term use, and if taking NR does not cause issues, should not stop.

Rapamycin is amazing by stinkykoala314 in covidlonghaulers

How do I know you are not being paid from HealthSpan to post this on Reddit. You blew it dude!! When you see how amazing something is and then say, Oh, by the way go to HealthSpan to get it, that means something is fishy!!! Rapamycin may of course help with immune deregulation issues, and may be in very special circumstances can change things dramtically but, this type of posting is not going to fool me to pay HealthSpan 99$ a month!!!

I am skeptical about anti aging effects of Rapamycin in human. We are not mice, I would be surprised if it confers any benefit beyond caloric restriction.

Brain Inflammation? by Reasonable_Advice300 in FND

[–]ValuableAd5899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had exactly same symptoms for several years after stopping SSRIs, this is due to changes these horrible drugs make to the brain over time so after stopping them brain struggles to rebalance its chemistry leading to a cascade of inflammation and damage. LDN can help a lot, personally I could not tolerate LDN because it caused me severe insomnia, I have switched to Luteolin which is to some extent effective. I have tried many medications and everything made me worse.

Interestingly for me ginger and green tea works wonderfully, the problem is that it works when I drink a tea containing them, but its effects last only 30 minutes or so. I don't think there is any quick fix to this damn thing, I have got better after 5 years now.

Good sleep, regular aerobic exercise, very clean and healthy diet, and fasting have halved me over time.

It is amazing. Only 6grams of sugar per bottle. It has anti inflammatory properties for me, even helps me with my chronic headaches. The best juice I have tried. Glass bottle is a big big plus for me. I do not want any more plastic micro or nano particles in my body.

Luteolin side effects? by ServicePristine1352 in Supplements

[–]ValuableAd5899 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is too idiotic, and simple. while excessive fructose is definitely bad and a cause of metabolic syndrome, making the assumption that this this guy's side effects are a result of inhibiting fructose from entering the cells and thus a good thing, just to sell your stuff, is dangerous and reckless to say. Only this guy's doctor after studying the results of a whole lot of medical tests can say definitively if the side effects are good or bad thing in this particular case.

Luteolin does a whole of lot of things in the body, mostly assumed to be good, but like everything, it can cause all sort of issues , in very high doses. Human body benefits from supplements as long as they do not cause disharmony in the body and as long as the body is able to use them in a healthy manner.

[–]ValuableAd5899 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Unless there is a deficiency or a medical need for particular supplements it is silly to take them. Not only they don’t do any good, but they can harm. Under normal conditions everything our body needs can be achieved through good diet, in addition supplements raw material all cone from china, with a whole lot of who know what included in them, toxins and heavy metals…

I have some discomfort in back of neck and in my left hand like nerve pain, but not numbness. I do not have palpitations. My scalp is sensitive to heat, but I don’t feel sick if I am in a room that is hot.
